Have you ever wondered how many people in the U.S. work two jobs? I used to wonder that too, until I became one of them. In this post, I want to share my story and some facts about the reality of working two jobs in today’s economy.
I never planned to work two jobs. I had a decent job that paid enough to cover my expenses and allow me some savings. But then everything changed. My employer cut my pay and the economy slowed down. I couldn’t afford to quit or look for another job. I needed money fast.
So I found another job and started working seven days a week. One job in the morning and one in the evening. It was exhausting, but I thought it would be temporary. Just a few months until things got better.
But they didn’t get better. They got worse.
Now it seems like working two jobs is my new normal. And I’m not alone.
According to Census data, about 13 million U.S. workers have more than one job which seems crazy to me,and this number has been increasing over time. Women are more likely than men to work multiple jobs, and some even work two full-time jobs. That’s insane!
How do they manage? How do they balance their work and personal lives? How do they cope with the stress and fatigue?
I can tell you from my own experience that it’s not easy.
Working two jobs has taken a toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I feel like I have no life outside of work. I have to hide this from my friends and family because I’m embarrassed of working two jobs. I have no time for myself or the things I love.
I’m always tired and stressed out and I sleep every chance I can because my muscles are so sore and etc.
Is this what life is supposed to be like? Working non-stop just to get by?
Why does the government think the economy is working for people like me? How can they ignore the millions of workers who struggle every day with low wages, high costs, and lack of opportunities?
Something needs to change.
I don’t know how long I can keep
working two jobs. But I know that this is not sustainable or fair.the government says all these jobs are being created but how many of these jobs are being taken as 2nd or third jobs???
