Working Hard Just Gets You Rewarded With More Work

I have a sales job, and the most I can make is $50k, no matter how hard I work here. It’s capped at $50K. We have daily metrics we have to hit, and today, I’ve hit mine 3 hours into work. The metrics are, -150 calls -40 connections (where we had an actual conversation and pitched) -2 closes I’ve already hit my metrics and now im just sitting here. My manager messaged me and told me to keep ripping dials to get to 200 dials, so I did that, and then he messages me saying let’s get to 250. Damn it dude, I’ve already hit my goals, so why should I keep working harder than I am already? Nobody else in my group numbers are close to mine today, or the rest of last week. Why aren’t they talking to the ones who are behind, instead of focusing on me?…

Why shouldn’t I just sit here until the day is over and do nothing?

Hard work doesn’t pay off; it just gets you rewarded with more work in the end.

Fuck corporate America
