My company is open Juneteenth. Typically we work some holidays because we have to be open (understandable). However we typically get holiday pay. I asked if we were getting holiday pay for Juneteenth as it’s a federal holiday. My supervisor then responded “the company does not observe it as a federal holiday.” Is this possible that they can pick and choose which federal holidays to pay us holiday pay? I’m just a bit confused. Is holiday pay not a mandatory thing and just a company decision? Thank you!
