I've been working factory and automotive jobs for my whole working life so far, but recently I haven't been able to get back into either field, so I ended up working as a personal shopper for a certain superstore chain.
Running around a store picking stuff for people didn't sound too bad, other than an occasional question from a customer. The first day was okay, I actually enjoyed it. Day 3 they dropped the trainer, which was ok, but they pulled me into the dispersing area and had me running in the parking lot talking to customers and getting in their cars. I also work second shift, so it's pitch black for half my shift. This made me super uncomfortable for both my safety and anxiety.
I'm still not sure what I'm doing in either area, but they won't give me a trainer. They also had me climb into moldy, disgusting cars (I've seen worse in automotive, but at least they gave me ppe for those situations).
Yesterday really made me worry after someone backed up into my coworker, very luckily only hitting their cart, then just taking off. I yelled for them to stop but they didn't until they knocked over the cart. It shook me up to think somebody could run my over and just take off.
I took another look at my job description to see if I missed something and I didn't. A personal shopper and a backroom dispenser are two different jobs. My flat mate said she would just talk to a manager and if they don't help them just quit.
I'm not sure about this so I wanted to come here and get your opinions.
TL/DR: BIG STORE BROUGHT ME IN FOR ONE JOB, MAKES MY WORK TWO IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. SUGGESTIONS?
