I wanted to share my recent experience with being wrongfully fired from a small mom and popish pizza place. A few months ago, I started working there as a server. My boss was a really friendly guy at first, but it didn't take long for me to start noticing some strange and uncomfortable behavior from him. He would make suggestive comments and gestures towards me and some of the other female employees.
I knew I needed to say something, but I was afraid of losing my job. I was also worried that my boss would get angry and try to make things worse for me. But after talking to some friends and family, I decided to report the sexual harassment to my manager's superiors.
To my surprise, instead of addressing the issue, my boss found out that I had reported him and became hostile towards me. He started giving me less hours and then eventually fired me. I was devastated. I had lost my job for trying to stand up for myself and report a serious issue.
I reached out to the district manager, but they were not helpful. They told me that there was nothing they could do, and that I was fired for not following the company's policy. I was shocked and felt completely helpless. I couldn't believe that I was being punished for doing the right thing.
This experience has taught me that even in 2021, reporting sexual harassment can still have serious consequences. I want to spread awareness about this issue and encourage others to speak up if they have experienced something similar. I hope that by sharing my story, I can help others avoid going through the same thing that I did.
