WTF is UP with the bullying and the lies?

Warning: this is a vent and possibly rambling. I know I shouldn't expect anything but hot damn I hope this phenomenon doesn't continue in my career. The last two jobs I have left have lied to my coworkers about the circumstances of my resignation or made me out to be an unjustifiably disgruntled employee in a job I had previously been excelling in and enjoying. Two jobs ago, I led a team of three hourly employees. My CEO had a meeting where he said that people would be getting hours cut. My husband was having a medical crisis and we had been toying with the idea of me getting a better paying job so he could leave the workforce anyway.

I went to the CEO (naively) and let him know that I would be looking for work but I did it so none of my team would lose their much needed hours.

He “furloughed” me that day and told my team I walked out on them. He also had neglected to pay unemployment insurance and was dodging the calls from the Dept of Labor so I got my 40% pay 8 months later – by which time I had secured a new job.

That job paid what I needed to support my family and I enjoyed the work. I was exceeding expectations and had outlined clear path with my supervisor on what growth looked like there. Until last year when my entire team got decimated – one person quit, one was fired, and two were reassigned to different departments (). Instead of backfilling my team, they hired a supervisor for my supervisor and I started being micromanaged while doing the jobs of at least five people. I personally recommended the only replacement they hired after begging them to interview her ().

So after about 6 months of that BS I realized I was doing more than my job and wanted a raise. I made a case to my supervisor and SHE WAS EXCITED FOR ME. Until management heard what I wanted, and then I was falsely reprimanded and told not to discuss pay at work (). They told me I would not be getting any raise and would observe me for 30 days. There was no official reprimand because I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG. Then they started being cold, micromanaging further, and when I tried to show up early to get more work done, my request for a key was denied because they didn't trust me anymore.

So I've gone from single handedly running my department to a troublemaker overnight. Despite still performing (not as much because why would I work more than my wage if this is overachieving is rewarded??). I finally saw the writing on the wall and started applying elsewhere.

I put in my two weeks Monday. NO ONE has extended basic professional courtesy to ask me what I'm doing or congratulate me on my move. Except the micromanager, who's remote and not in touch with the office drama. I resolved to work my two weeks. Until my last ally told me that being in a good mood in the office was making everyone miserable and my supervisor (who used to be my champion) mocked me in front of the whole office for leaving.

I am kind, caring, helpful person. My only crime is sticking up for myself and not caving to manipulation. Why the FUCK do these companies think it's okay to make me out as evil???
