Granted, I know there are a lot of shithead managers out there, but we can’t forget managers are a part of the working class too – likely part of the same group of people complaining about them here. As far as managers go, they have worked enough years to consider taking a managerial position so they can finally take out a car loan or – if they’re lucky – a mortgage. For me as a manager, I feel most phoney when I can’t explicitly talk to my staff about how rotten capitalism is. How stupid I think restaurants are. I can’t talk to them about how over-worked and under-guided we are as managers. How terrible it makes me feel to ask of them things that may put them at odds with what they truly believe in. But guess what (and this might be the old school part of me – I’m 37) you also have to show up and fucking work. In this reality, none of us are exempt. Until we all decide to fuck the bullshit of the everyday hustle and strike together, you need to show up. Cause if you don’t then ur just as bad as the rest of the entitled. To work without caring when working alongside others who do care is a legit waste of everyone’s time. It’s the system you want to work against, not your comrades. If you keep using Amazon, keep staring at social media, keep shopping at Walmart, keep buying the newest iPhone, you’re the same part of the problem the managers you complain about are. Corporations are who we should be pissed at and I bet a lot of them you all are supporting rn. Getting us to place blame on one another is their greatest strategy.
