I had my yearly performance review and I'm supposed to sign and add my comments.
I was docked on performance and didn't get the full yearly raise because of an incident with a now former coworker, the Golden Child. She was absolutely the favorite of the managers, the whole team knew it. I had tried avoiding her, but ended up being assigned to a large project together. I had wanted to be on the project, Golden Child did not.
As soon as we started, I kept having to talk to our manager about issues working with Golden Child. I was being blocked and removed from all communications, not included in meetings, having parts reassigned so I ended up doing parts already completed. Every time, I was told to communicate more with Golden Child and “assume best intent”, the corpospeak phrase of the year.
Now I've had my review, saw the beige over of the incident, lost my temper and made some comments about how if Golden Child hadn't been working her side hustle during office hours, maybe she could have paid attention more to the project. Now the manager is interested in hearing my side of what I feel happened. The urge to say something about failed management and lack of trust is strong.
