You can even get fired just for crying at work

Employment at will means, and even with cases of stricter labour laws, you can even get fired for crying at work. I am fortunate enough to live in a country with hardcore protection for workers, and I find the concept of being able to just fire anyone at will appalling. Apparently some employers use the reasoning that behaviour like crying negatively impacts the atmosphere in the work place. I was once “disciplined” for misbehaving on a weekend team building event as well as for being drunk during the day at work, and they literally begged me to resign because where I live it is so hard to fire anyone. The entire concept of employment at will is anathema to the culture of labour relations in South Africa, and I find the idea of firing someone for crying to be particularly disgusting. https://preview.redd.it/uwqbdyez6ofa1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=82c15060093f955af6986254190c4f94cbbeff8e
