You don’t know how your city is until you experience poverty.

Suddenly you have to freeze and sweat at the same time over miles and miles over dirty snow and slush, over unpaved ground to get to a bus stop that lacks shade, and then you get splashed by lifted pickup trucks blowing soot right into your face. You can’t find a place to sleep, because the police harass anyone who doesn’t have an apartment/house. You get profiled and denied restroom access everywhere you go for wearing heavier/bulkier/warmer clothing, because that seems to imply that you lack shelter. You clothes get dirty easier, and you get judged for it. When you have resources and money, it shields you from all these things. You never even notice these issues. I feel so bad for people who have to deal with this every day.
