“You’re a perfect candidate for this position but…”

So need to post this bc I’m fuming and can’t stop thinking about it So I Applied for a new job where the description said 3 days in office and 2 days at home. Went for the job interview yesterday and I thought it went really well, thought I vibed well with the interviewer. We had a good long chat and he asked me what my preferences were about wfh so I said preferably two days but I’ll do whatever is asked of me. I just felt generally positive afterwards. Like haven’t felt that good coming out of an interview ever and he gave me really lovely feedback. Unfortunately got my hopes up because they called me today and told me that even though I would be really good at the role they can’t give it to me bc I said I’d prefer working from home more often, Their words…

Their words were “amazing candidate but we have trouble engaging our employees and we want people who want to come into the office and it was a red flag that you only want two days in the office.”
I’m actually stumped and really pissed off. Apparently caring about work life balance is a “red flag” now. The fuq
