100% occupancy is still more important than healthy workers, it see s

(* seems – typing on my personal tablet sucks but I'm not gonna use the work PC to type this even in private browsing mode lmao.) Hello folks. Some time ago I made a post about how my employer, a motel in California, swapped out the front office's air conditioner to replace a guest room's faulty AC unit. In the middle of a heat wave backed by wildfire smoke. Well as many of you fellow Californians know, it's hot as fuck this week and today we topped 100 Fahrenheit. And guess what happened today? A guest room's AC was on the fritz, again. So management swapped our AC with theirs, AGAIN. All because the top brass are so deeply offended at the possibility of only maxing out at 97% occupancy instead of 100%, when most nights we don't even fucking sell out anyway, we always have like 2-3 rooms not sold every night.

At least we have clean air this time, but it's still not okay that corporate would rather make employees suffer and probably even put them at heat exhaustion or even heat stroke risk than put one of their revenue devices out of service for a few days.

So anyways, UBI and affordable housing when? Since all employers are bastards and refuse to hire me so I can leave this shit job without endangering my livelihood — “It's a worker's market” is a fucking lie, employers are stingier than ever.
