Being Poor Is Expensive
Was active during army, bought a car while stationed in Germany. Came back to the US during covid-19 and was told that registration was temporarily down. Car was towed and impounded because an officer with nothing better to do at 0600 in the morning thought my plates were fake, despite me having them registered with county and state. $185 for the impound, 60 registration, 45 daily impound fees and was told the process could take weeks because my title is foreign and this is only since by mail. This country is fucking broken.
He makes 2$ more than me an hour which isn’t shit and gets mad at me for not wanting to extra shit that has nothing to do with my job. Working for a giant company that has a net worth of 10 billion and he makes 18$ an hour and says I will get no where in life because my work ethic lmao. He says you gotta work hard if you wanna make your way up! And I’m like bro you make 2$ more than me and hate going home to your family i think I’m doing just fine in life. This job isn’t my life. He says well it basically is your life if your here 40 hours a week. Idk little rant. Basically he’s just trying to make me feel stupid for not putting my all into a company that gives 0 fucks about us lmao.
I haven’t had an actual vacation in a little over ten years. I’m an American and many people know how terrible the American work /life balance is. tbh it’s my fault. I prided myself on “grinding hard” and eventually burned myself out. Now with Covid and wars and stuff the opportunity to have a proper vacation, coupled with me not having any pto hours saved(new job /No pto) There’s no reason for this post. I guess I just wanted to share 🤷️. Edit:There is a bright side, Guess I’ll get a forever vacation when I go to Heaven
I’ve always struggled with my mental health and school/work has been a struggle for me ever since I can remember. I remember when I skipped school at one point and they found me and picked me up in a cop car. I went to court for truancy in highschool, I’ve been fired for shit attendance and after all these years I still can’t get myself together. I never understood how people just “do it”. Of course I’ll hear just about anyone complaining about their day at work or whatever, but they show up every day without fail nonetheless. How?? Am I just selfish and lazy? Did my parents raise me that way? Or am I just cynical? Capitalism feels fucking inhumane. I’ve avoided this subreddit for a while. I didn’t wanna go through these posts because I know nothing will ever change and I’ll be working till I die. I’ve…
Pretty sure this is the future <3
Hello world. I am working on a website which will revolutionize the way we work; the work that we do will be centralized around each individual living their best life, and will be optimized through connecting what each individual is seeking to do (for fun and occupation), learn, and sharing of ideas, that you profit from sharing. This should make it alot easier to have a great time and do what you want, and should be able to earn a lovely and wonderful living. There's alot to uncover.. I just wanted to share this. I've been working on the concept for 3 years and expect to begin coding soon. The idea can in theory be bootstrapped. I know this message isn't exactly easy to read, so I'll post again when I'm more organized. I wish to involve all who wish to be involved, maybe let me know in the comments?…
I work for a national US based medical equipment supply company, with multiple locations across different states. In my warehouse it’s just me and one other coworker; my direct boss lives 8 hours from me and the CEO lives states away. My coworker and I get paid a lot more than others in the same position as us. This is because the cost of everything is extremely high due to our economy being tied to the oilfield. In fact, HR told me that when they posted the job at the normal rate they offer, they didn’t get any sort of calls or feedback until they raised the wage online. Well as we all know, the cost of everything keeps going up ridiculously. My yearly review with my raise will be coming up soon, and given what my coworker got, I’ll get getting the same thing. I have no issue with…
Renegotiating my salary sources
I found out today that my current compensation is low for my exp/prof/skills. I asked about getting better compensation rather than immediately leaving and was asked to submit the request with supporting documents showing that my peers have a significantly higher pay/rewards than I do. Does anyone know of any good sources to make this a bit easier? I've got a decade of IT experience and have spent the last 4 years as a devops engineer/solutions architect. I'm likely gone this year, but it would be handy going forward to know how to assess my own professional value.
Im not allowed to eat at work
Im not entirely sure where to post this but i thought this might be a good start. Bare w me on this there's a LOT of context for this situation Part 1: personal context 1. I am 21F. But im 4'7″ 90lbs. 2. I have [severe major] depression and [severe generalized] anxiety, as well as 5 other severe and chronic, clinically diagnosed disorders 3.
