I put in my resignation w/ 2 weeks recently and assured HR there was no particular event that occurred that made me want to leave (lol there definitely was). I said that I am pursuing a different opportunity after being pressed as to what changed. She directly asked me what the opportunity was and I said I would prefer to keep that information to myself at this time. She seemed taken aback. Among other things, I was told that they will conduct an exit interview. I want to leave on good terms and be able to use this as a reference, but I really don't want to have to get into specifics about how they could improve. Slight rant in here cause I need to but also tldr at bottom I really need some more money because I NEED to be able to get an apartment. I was lucky enough to find a church empathizing enough to let me use their address to apply for jobs. (Still live in my car) As I am still currently homeless. I'm having an extremely hard time even attempting to be in any position to negotiate. I make $10/h. I need at the very least 14-15. People are saying “Get a better Job” IM trying that its not working I got kicked out of the house when I was 18 for christs sake. But I can't save very well because I need to have a Planet fitness membership so I can take a shower and not smell,I have to wash my 1 pair of work clothes for $14 every two days…

Most of us are probably going to spend our lives working shit jobs for shit pay, looking forward to the weekend until it passes us by and the cycle begins anew. We're going to keep doing this until our bodies and minds are of no use to the oligarchs, and those who can afford it will get to spend their final years decaying in their aged physiques, looking back on all the time they wasted. I hope that this doesn't happen, but all signs point in the opposite direction. In that case, I bet many people don't want to have to suffer through it. TLDR: I've never been in this situation before and I don't want me changing my last day at the last minute to come back to bite me in the future. I work for an absolutely terrible company, and I have taken a job at what I hope will be a better company. I gave my current employer two and a half weeks because that's how long it was until my start date with the new company. I have now entered my last week, and today was probably one of the worst days I have ever had at this company. I have been treated like shit by my boss because I'm leaving, I found out because my boss is an idiot that my replacement will be starting at a higher salary than me even though I have been with the company for nearly six years, and I just cannot take this…

I was a teenager in the early 2000s and minimum wage was $5.50, and I thought that was fine. My girlfriend’s sister got her first job at the same age I was when I got my first job (16) and she makes $15 per hour. When I expressed amazement about the difference in pay between our generations she said times change which I agreed with. As recently as 3 years ago, just before the pandemic, I was making $16 per hour and I was happy with that. But now, I can’t envision myself making anything less than $20 per hour.

Its not going to make sense when the 80% of working class Americans cant afford a roof. We need to rally or sign a petition to have zillow examined for crimes against humanity. Its proven they fudge percentages and drive housing up. I was a disbeliever in gentrification but im seeing it full force in my state now with a 20% market increase by the end of this year.
