Has anyone’s employer ever observed this? I can definitively say I have never heard of this ‘holiday’/been acknowledged as an employee the company is thankful for, for as long as I’ve been a worker. https://imgur.com/a/DuRvMGN

My plan to exit a toxic work environment
My situation I am 27 years old. I work in fundraising. I am strongly reliant on my job to pay off my mortgage and living expenses. I am very good at my job and am considered to be the top performer amongst all of my colleagues and manager. The problem The workplace is toxic. My manager treats me unfairly and targets me and fails to do her job. The most significant issues are: Imposing more stringent standards on me when it comes to break times and financial targets. Giving favourable treatment to employees who are poor performers, who often take extended break times and have significant idle time without being called out on it. Failing to provide training to poor performers and barely doing any work herself eg yesterday my manager spent a significant chunk of time playing on her phone, chit chatting around the office and slacking off as…
Dangerously delusional
One thing I get tired of hearing from upper management is the old “own your job” saw. It seems to me that corporate america wants every employee to work like they actually own the business. This is a dangerously flawed viewpoint, not everyone wants or is cut out for business ownership, most people just want a job that respects them and the effort that they put in during the week. If we wanted to own our jobs wouldn't we be out there running our own businesses? What happened to respecting the worker who shows up, gets their job done and isn't beholden to the corporate overlords who are trying to squeeze every tenth of a penny out of them? I literally work for a corporation where I heard a full time employee be threatened with losing their full time status because they protested being scheduled to work shift that would…
Inflation, housing costs, and slave wages = AI to confusion because there's no way the math checks out! Yes, computer, I am spending almost 70% of my paycheck on rent. After taxes (in OR) I take home ~$1600 per month. My rent is 1100 (1 bedroom apartment), and utilities/extras push it to $1300. I have a storage unit (temporary but necessary) that costs $190. That leaves me with ~$300 for food/basic necessities, gas, insurance, and emergencies. I am 26 years old with a BSc. in a STEM field. I live paycheck to paycheck with no end in sight. Sorry for the rant, and thank you for listening.
Resume VS LinkedIn
I received a new job in August I never updated my LinkedIn or my resume. I was just reached out to by a recruiter with a position that will almost double what I make. I was not at the previous job very long so it may look like I am job hopper should I tell the recruiter or just go along with it. I do not think I will get this position anyways. Note: this is an outside recruiter not internal to the company.
Don't know why so many people consider public transport unworthy and only fit for the 'poor'. The gas bill at the pump will make you poor soon enough. People should reconsider what they think is a “normal” way of life. Big wide spread suburban areas, endless roads, 2 cars per family. High gas bills will be due soon.
