My roommate tells me to get a better job as I get paid minimum wage. I had to explain I have two jobs that I can finally schedule doctor appointments without days off. I would often get asked how much PTO I have left last year with my schedule with the last two jobs I had. otherwise I am not getting paid for calling out. My medical procedures are mostly not covered which means I lose more than what the procedure cost me. Last year I had two jobs and no ability to do these appointments without the days off. These two I have work with doctor appointments on my off time. I only have one day off that I take care of laundry and other chores.

How do you handle BS reviews?
When money is good in my company, they hand out excellent reviews and “standard living raises”. When money is bad, they hand out mediocre-poor reviews and no money. This year I pushed for a promotion. So, I got a mediocre review with false reasoning, along with a “development plan”. How do you respond to these?
So I work in a lumber yard as a house designer. Where as soon as you say the word quit they magically come up with money to keep you. Well it has been a dream of mine to start my own business as a owner and sole designer. Have offer to have my own office rent free and work under my won name and don't need to be there but have space to help out with designs for their customers since I have good relationship with them. Only thing hold me back is wife left her job to be her own boss as a hair stylist. Not sure if I should pull the trigger now or wait. Since we do have two kids ages 6 and 3. I am looking for any feedback or support. Thanks in dance guys
HR asked me to do an “exit survey.”
They asked for the top 3 reasons I’m leaving. I figured, why not be honest? I don’t want to come back here. Management. (my direct supervisor was great, but she's gone now. Leadership from (upper manager) was not helpful, because she didn't have enough staff in the interim to enact changes. (lower manager) was overworked, underappreciated, and working with poor direction IF she got any direction at all. She was blamed for doing exactly as she was told to do. As the saying goes, shit runs downhill. I really don't want to know what was being shoveled into (upper manager)'s wheelbarrow, because it got dumped on us after being filtered. We were chronically understaffed, overworked, and burnt out. Oh also, take half the staff and then expect the department to run well. BUT GOD FORBID WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH VISITS THAT DAY. OBVIOUSLY WE WEREN'T TRYING HARD ENOUGH. People don't…
Less than 20k/yr, owe $175 in taxes.
And I live in LA, on foodstamps, and covered california. Next up, miss work for $15/day jury duty. I know that even in nature organisms strive through often unforseen/uncontrollable circumstances, but in our culture it doesn't even feel arbitrary, it's malicious.
I am, and I think I've finally found a way of dealing with them. Just ask what specifically in your resume/profile/etc. prompted them to call you. I've recently rejoined the job market and have been getting calls for jobs that seem to have nothing to do with my job preferences, no matter how much I refine my resume and profiles. The other day I decided I was sick of it and I simply asked the recruiter why they thought I was right for the job. They were speechless and then thanked me for my time and ended the call. I tried it again with another recruiter, and they said “your resume states that you have 5 years experience with Excel”. Next recruiter: “your profile mentions that you have experience with (insert software I haven't used since college)”. I guess the most legitimate answer I've gotten recently was that I had…

Employer fined for wage theft
I'm currently interviewing, and I've gotten this mentioned as a benefit in 3-4 different interviews. On it's face, it sounds awesome, but on further consideration, I'm wondering if this is just like ISPs that sell “Unlimited bandwidth”, right up to the point you hit their arbitrary number (looking at you Comcast). Anyone had experience with this in the real world?
Supervisors showing favoritism
Hi I was just wondering if it was ok for supervisors at a factory to offer overtime only to their family members and friends? This has been happening for months and I just found out today that, while most of us are restricted to 40 hours a week, a group of tightly knit supervisors have been coming in on Saturdays and getting that sweet overtime with their relatives and keeping people like myself in the dark entirely. Is this just unfair, or is there legal recourse?
