I’m a grocery store cashier in the US and i spend several hours a day standing. Sometimes its so busy that I dont get to stop moving my arms for 2-3 hours. I start getting dehydrated pretty quickly. Yesterday I was carrying a bottle of water to my register and my manager told me “no drinks at the register.” (Despite it being a CLOSEABLE BOTTLE of WATER, and having plenty of space to set it where it wont spill on anything important.) I’m pretty much not allowed to drink at all outside of my singular 15 min break. There’s no way I can walk across the floor, walk up 2 flights of stairs, grab my drink from the fridge, have a sip, and walk all the way back quickly enough without pissing SOMEONE off. I’m pretty sure its not a store/company policy either because some managers are ok with it,…

Lmfao. Idk who else experienced this. After being remote I went back into the office, by force, for THREE. DAYS. And already had coworkers at happy hour force feeding me alcohol, talking about how close of a walk their apartment is to mine, sharing small chairs with me, mentioning how beautiful I am and how they want to keep a picture of me in their wallet, etc. Just annoying that as a woman I can quietly vibe at home, then I go into the office and immediately upon my return im forced to go to events where I have to drink until it's likely I get taken advantage of or at best, embarass myself. Can corporations leave us tf alone? Im quietly doing my work at home, away from that bullshit

America has been declining the past couple decades but it’s not bad enough yet to the point where the average person is paying attention to politics and actively trying to change the reality. If anti work is going to be successful, people have to start organizing in their local areas and pressuring politicians and companies to change the workers rights. Maybe this sub needs to split up into regions to help achieve this. Make threads based on metropolitan areas so people can organize meetups. Otherwise it’s just gonna remain a giant bitching fest

I run a small bakery in a small village from my home. Just me at the moment, selling breads and pastries. I order flour and other ingredients and get it delivered. I usually give the delivery person some bread for helping me unload, the bakery is in the basement and is a real hassle to do alone. This day I am waiting on deliveries and it's a bit late, but it is no issue. Finally it arrives and it's a new driver, young girl. I explain that she needs to back the truck to the side of the building. She gets a little bit apprehensive saying that she isn't good backing up.
