bummed out over workplace bully

How do you handle an office bully saleperson when your manager says that's how all sales people treat your department? I don't want to go to HR. I love the job, love the company, don't love putting up with this bully who tears me apart over things that are not my fault? For reference, the salesperson (we will call her Sarah) didn't give wording she wanted to be changed on the contract from the start. She asked for a word change… on a word that was mentioned multiple times in the paragraph in question. I made an educated guess, and she responded in the same 10 seconds I sent my edit suggestion with what she wanted. Ok cool, that's what she meant? No problem, I will get right on that. Unfortunately, because she clarified RIGHT after I made my guess, she responded lashing out complaining how she told me what she…

I’ve finally learned something about applying for massive companies.

Companies like Capital One or other top performers often include some form of assessment that's very lengthy and difficult. After a bit of studying and taking the assessment, I was told within 30 minutes that I “failed” and would not be considered for an interview. (The assessment also takes anywhere from 45 – 90 minutes. Hope you like wasting time!) Now, I answered everything honestly and didn't answer like some idiot trying to make a point, but after much research and looking into others experiences, I can confidently say that no sane person should ever apply or work for this type of company in it's current state. It's not in favor of people who aren't corporate suck ups or robots. These assessments aren't looking to find a “good” or “acceptable” employee, they want you to fill out the perfect cookie cutter definition of what they're demanding in an employee. They…

Carbon monoxide poisoning at work, are the effects permanent?

I'm not interested in suing the company, I just want to know if I will ever recover. I'm 37 years old now. From the time I was 28 until I was 31, I was a supervisor at an industrial plant. I accepted the job because I needed the money but from day one I could tell something was very wrong. I suddenly had zero libido and I was suddenly stressed and sleep deprived. I was the first shift supervisor but they had no second or third shift supervisor, so I was unfortunately on call all the time. I very rarely got a full night's sleep. At work I was regularly exposed to exhaust fumes and mill dust that contained carbon monoxide, mercury, and silica in a fine particulate, airborne form. I repeatedly asked my manager for permission to report the carbon monoxide poisoning to the safety department and was repeatedly…
