“The BLS noted that hourly wages, however, were flat on the month, and up 5.1% on the year to $31.58 per hour” This statistic was quoted on the Nightly News on Friday. $31 per hour is if you factor in all the billionaires; it's the mean wage, not the median, which is closer to $32,000 per year, or $15 per hour. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/february-jobs-report-shows-huge-678-000-employment-surge-but-wage-gains-stall/ar-AAUBAQQ?ocid=uxbndlbing

Hate your job? Don’t wash your uniform
Edit: I do in fact shower everyday and I wear clean clothes under my uniform, Im specifically talking about our work shirts and hats, which we are forced to buy out of pocket, and forced to wear when they are disgusting anyways if we cant get new ones on the spot. Please know this isn’t a serious suggestion for anyone else lmao original post: I live in an HCOL with bad public transit and no car. Im 20yo, in school, poor, physically disabled, autistic, and transgender. I currently work 40h a week at a very well known fast food chain, that I have to walk everyday to, get misgendered and ridiculed (for things like lack of eye contact, stuttering, needed a knee brace etc) at every shift, and Im paid shit for it. You could say Im not very enthused waking up on work days. So, how do I cope…
I know this is not as extreme as some of the post here, but I thought I’d get some opinions. I work part time at a small theme park, and we’ve been ridiculously busy this month because of spring break, I haven’t been sleeping well due to personal shit, my neck and back hurt like hell, and my entire face is killing me because my wisdoms teeth are coming in. I like this job, and I don’t want to do anything to risk losing it, but I also just really need a day off. I’ve been working there for six months and I’ve never called out before, but idk if I actually want to risk it. Maybe I should just suck it up, I know some other employees there who go three weeks without a day off.
What is the endgame?
I have been lurking in antiwork for months, and am impressed about the bredth of work and exploration about today's working environment. There are really two endpoints to antiwork. Either UBI or substantial overhauls of the current capitalist system. Both of these are game changing, and both require extensive political and societal buy-in. The pandemic was an inflection point for us all to reflect, but that is ending. As tech Giants including Microsoft call their employees back to work, we are losing ground fast. What is a realistic endgame? Will the people accept UBI or socialist political system changes? After 250 years of business as usual in America, can be realistically expect any real changes in the near future as the pandemic rolls up?
