It’s unreal how employers think they own you just because you work for them.

I work for this real piece of work, Rick. Last week Rick calls me into his office to have a meeting with me. I walk into his office and all the chairs are removed except for his. So I have to stand for this meeting while he sits on his ass. Rick starts going on about how I don’t answer calls or texts during my off time and how this is unacceptable blah blah blah. I can’t even respond because he won’t let me get a word in. So he is going on while I stand there and as I move my thumb, the knuckle pops. Rick hears it, stops talking and gets angry. He then yells at me for interrupting him and how disrespectful I am. I tell him, he chose to have this meeting and he shouldn’t complain about the interaction he’s getting, and I walk out.

Hey Americans, Europe is not the social democratic paradise you think it is. Sorry to ruin your utopian beliefs

As a Dutch man, it infuriates me when I see Americans talk about how utopian western Europe is. We are still wage slaves here. We will still waste our one and only life toiling for the billionaires. There is still a massive suicide, drug addiction, and homeless problem here. Is it better than your dystopian capitalist nightmare hellscape. Sure Do we have fulfilling and happy lives. No We just have free doctors and make 18 an hour instead of 12 Thanks for coming to my TED talk

We get it. You don’t agree with Biden that the majority of remote workers should go back to the office.

Fair points. But these posts are beating a dead horse and doing damage to the democratic agenda as a whole. “yEaH wElL bIdEn Is JuSt As BaD bCuZ hE oNcE sAiD mEtRoPoLiTaN sErViCe BuSiNeSsEs ArE sUfFeRiNg!” Okay commerade. We get the message. You like working from home and want many others to have that freedom to continue to work from home. It suits you and many others. You don’t have to deal with jaggoff middle management peeking in your cubicle. It saves commute and wardrobe costs. These and many other fine points. But Biden is not your friggin enemy. People who actually are your political enemies are weaponizing this one line from the state of the union, which is being twisted out of context by the way, to drive a wedge between workers and the only party that even remotely gives a damn about workers rights. This isn’t dankmemes. Stop…

All the problems. Never any solutions…

I’ve been on this subreddit for a few months and completely agree with the sentiment in here. However I came here trying to find a way out of my current predicament – rather than just to complain about how shitty my job is. Current plan – quit the job. Sell up and move to the south of France to buy a house. Rent out rooms and gîtes to guests. Hopefully do weddings. And earn a living that way. Anyone else have plans to escape the gruelling 9-5?

How I went from minimum wage to a millionaire through honest hard work, time off the clock, long term planning, and time off the clock.

I am a millionaire. I came from nothing. A poor background. And so I know a lot of people are upset because they aren’t willing to put in the work to make a decent life for themselves or don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I do empathise. But I just don’t see people putting in the same work I did to make it, buy a home, and get to the point where they’re not worried about money. And I want to explain how I got to where I’m at for anyone who wants to get there too- anyone can do this. Please just hear me out because anybody can do what I did: I started working at McDonald’s for five years. 8 hours a day. $7.25 an hour. And just moved my way up. I didn’t go to Starbucks. I didn’t drink alcohol or party. I…
