Doing the right thing got some cashier fired

So I am a regular at my grocery store and a few days ago I came home realizing that the cashier had forgotten to ring a whole can of detergent. Something worth about $12. So I know everyone will think i m stupid but I was raised conservative, and feeling like I took something without paying haunts me. I went back to the store told them I needed to pay for that item and they rang it for me. Brought me back to the register where the cashier who had rung me up that day happened to be there. A day later I returned for some eggs and he is not there. No biggie I figure he is off that day. And then again today he wasn't there. I asked my cashier about him, and she tells me that management fired him for forgetting to check the bottom of carts.…

Sign On Bonus Repayment Advice

Hello, I appreciate your read. I am looking for advice to pass a long to a family member who is in a difficult situation. For ease of reference my family member will be refenced as – FM The shiesty employer will be – SE FM accepted a position this last year with a sign-on bonus to stay at the company for a certain length of time. I am not aware of specifics of the sign on bonus. The role in question is sales management for a home décor fabricator. The person who accepted this role did not have specific experience in the décor business, selling or manufacturing, but posses over a decade in sales management elsewhere – this concern was brought up by FM numerous times prior to the role acceptance. There was a mutual agreement of employment offer and the job offer was accepted. A bit of backstory of…

I am an independent contractor and my daughter wants me to quit.

I am lucky that I work only 20 hours a week from home. But with the time difference (I am overseas) I am up at 3:45 AM working til 9 AM. I am exhausted all day, even though I go to bed at 8:30 PM. I'm in charge of all the household chores, all the cooking, grocery shopping, etc. My 15 yo daughter thinks I should just quit my job. My Protestant work ethic hates to leave my boss without an assistant (I am his only employee). But I am tired. I'm tired of making phone calls. I'm tired of reminding my boss to pay me. I'm just TIRED. Thanks for letting me vent, friends.

End working overall?

I don’t understand why we still have capitalism today. We have the power, as a collective human species, to simply stop attending, stop doing, to change things. There is more of us than the government, we would over power and outweigh enough to end it all. It infuriates me that we as a society have accepted work to just be “how life is” and “we just have to” when in reality this is a planet and we have no idea what the universe is and what we’re actually doing here. We can create anything and make life whatever we want, and we don’t have to have a system. We don’t need money because it’s an illusion for control… I’m just tired of this.

Creepy Guy at Work

TLDR: A resident at my job continuously called me his “playboy bunny” several times throughout the night, despite being 60+ years older than me. For context, I work in an Assisted Care Facility as a Dietary Aide (server) in the dining room. I've worked here for a little over a week now. I was working my shift tonight and we had this resident tonight that made me just completely uncomfortable. I've been working in customer-facing jobs for over 7 years, so I've dealt with inappropriate jokes before — but I normally just get through it thinking, “I won't see them again. I can ignore it.” WELL, tonight, we had a resident, let's call him Jason, be completely creepy to me. This man is old enough to be my grandfather. I'm 22, he's maybe in his mid-80s from my guess. Here's the conversation: Me: Hello there! What would you like to…

How do I quit?

I’m 22 years old and I’m in school and working part time. Because of “Worker shortages” I have gone from 10-15 to 30 hours per week. I can’t do it anymore, I can’t spend Friday’s doing 10 hour shifts, and fortunately I have enough money to get by. How do I quit? I have never quit a job before.

New gm at work

So I posted about my former GM getting fired/quit about month & a half ago. New GM I feel for. She’s trying to play by corporate rules. I’ve been here long enough to realize the end result is the same as my previous GM. They’ve discussed fixing our roof. But I know they’ll only fix it if she gets labor under control. How do I tell her that’s not going to happen. They want labor at 20% or lower. Even with 2 people labor is usually 30%. We can’t have just 1 person due to safety reasons. It amuses me we switched people with another store because we were told “he’s really good, he’s been doing it awhile.” Because of his mess ups we were very low on bread. He’s supposed to cheese bread & he does that all wrong. Every Friday I put truck away. Last Friday was a…
