My job just announced that if you’re scheduled for 32 hours a week, you can’t add hours even if you stay under 40– you have to either switch shifts with someone for the same amount of time or you forfeit scheduled hours. I don’t know how I’m supposed to find income like this. I can barely pay bills with the 30 hours I’m now being scheduled since the Fortune 500 company I work for that has an international customer base is apparently struggling to pay customer service. What a load of crap….
Month: March 2022
I see a lot of people jumping on this band-wagon, seemingly without fully thinking it through. Permanent Daylight Savings will potentially increase by almost 100 days a year the number of days workers have to get up before sunrise. Don’t fall for the propaganda about it helping with mental health. Waking up before sunrise is unnatural to our circadian rhythms and is designed to emotionally wear down everyone who has to be at work by 9.

I’m the Company Toilet (long post)
Lately I’ve been feeling like my companies toilet, where everyone dumps the shit they don’t want to deal with. For context, I work in the Energy Consulting Industry. Primarily residential with some light commercial, and primarily New Construction. I have my own list of tasks and clients, which already occupies my work week. As of late my boss has been trying to “transition” me into a new role. The work is significantly more advanced/technical and requires a much higher skill set than most our employees have. I’m quite excited about the new role. My problem is that nothing is being taken off my current list of responsibilities. My boss also loves to randomly dump is problems on me. We have about 300+ files over the last 3 years that were never submitted. If the file took longer than 5seconds to deal with, my boss basically dumped it into a folder…
Wage slavery describe a person's dependence on wages or a salary for their livelihood, especially when wages are low, conditions are poor, and there are few realistic chances of upward mobility. Wage slavery is legal in America because it is Voluntary, you have a choice to work or not. The hope in a modern capitalist society is that through hard work you can improve your job prospects and lot in life. What happens when a group of minority employees decide to leave a company for greener pastures in the 21st century? If you are working in Missouri you could be at the mercy of your employer. In a series of legal battles in St. Louis Federal court Ronnoco Coffee filed suits against 3 employees that's former company had been acquired by Hedge fund Huron Capital. All three employees were in sales and all were making between $12-$15 an hour base…
I'm not going to call out any specific posts, but sometimes the stories are so beyond the pale that they're somewhat unbelievable. Anyone else? Has anyone ever been caught or called out for doing so?
