So we have a new vendor compliance analysist that got a nice office right behind my open floor plan cubicle. She makes more money than me, but I basically trained her in her entire job. I work in Logistics so have a good understanding of what we are being fined for. Anyways she came up to me asking about this report and asking if these loads missed or were worked-in, and if they are worked-in then they get no detention. She handed me a list of like 50 loads and asked me to go through them and double check and verify if a load was a work-in or reschedule. I told her how to do it and told her that it's not my responsibility. I have my own work I need to accomplish. She proceeds to write my manager and he called me into the office. I am not…

I make about 14$/hr in a low stress entry level solo job (full time) Area/State: small town with a population of less than 10k people, in a state where the minimum wage is still 7.25$ Although I technically make double the minimum wage and my COL calculator says it’s about 12$ for a single adult/0 child in my county, it doesn’t feel enough? A lot of people on the personal finance subs are from city’s so it makes my wage feel like peanuts. Is 15$ for them equivalent to 7.25$ for us? Any statistics for wages/median for people in states/areas like mine?
Title. I currently get 40 hours a year. How many do you all get (if any…)?
is it just me? hate the 9to5
A little about me: 27, Male, Married to the love of my life. Everything seems to be perfect now. But the only thing that always bugs me is that I just don't want to work 9-5, I just don't know how people do it. My current job has a great team and a great work life balance, weekends off, office parties, good pay, etc. but at the end of the day, I am still expected to be “visible” at work. Be in touch with my manager, be engaged and all that stuff, I have no motivation to climb the corporate ladder. I Just can't do that. I just want to do whatever I can and turn off my laptop by 7 PM and wait for the weekends. I don't want people to have an idea that I am an irresponsible husband. I pay my bills, taxes, rents, groceries – everything…
Started a new job recently, agreed on slightly above min wage did not negotiate ( never something I done before ). Anyways long story I've joined with a fair bit if experience in the field, others on the team slightly less. Discussion has came up and we spoke about salary, I've learnt a fair few people are on alot higher than me maybe 1 2k more, it's been annoying me. Am I wrong to ask for a payrise ? They've announced a pay increase across the board of 6.3% I think inflation in the UK is 7.3% don't quote exact figure. Will I hold out and bite my tongue as its really my own fault for not negotiating or should I ask now ? They've an annual review again in August, I love the job benefits bonus hours etc are amazing. Am I thinking too much into it ?
My employer has decided to begin requiring that male staff be clean shaven unless they have a medical, religious or cultural exemption. This change is not presented as a hygiene requirement, and certainly isn't standard in the industry. This is just a preference that some higher-up has made. I imagine it's just corporate speak for “non-religious things that foreigners do” as a means of not wanting to appear racist by telling ethnic minority to do something – but what does it *actually* mean in practical/enforceable purposes? My culture, according to census data, sees about 42% of the male population engaging in some amount of facial hair and we have the legal right to autonomy over our own bodies – is that enough of a cultural justification to tell my employer to do one and provide me with an exemption-beard-net?
