My wife is aware of this sub but hasn't joined it because she finds, rightly, the modern worker's plight unpleasant and hard to deal with. She started working as office staff at a local company that makes truck mirrors. When we looked them up, they'd been fined 2 million for literal toxic waste detected at their location. Likely in the factory section not the office section, but it still rubbed us the wrong way that they had a bunch of “unskilled” Hispanic and Vietnamese workers plugging away in an environment that's likely to give them cancer. She was hired for a “data entry” position but quickly the scope of the job expanded to include customer service emails and calls, and most troubling, dealing with freight companies and coordinating their shipments. I worked in a hospital and they were giving bonuses for picked up shifts. I asked my manager if i get the bonus because i work a casual shift (6 shifts in a month). She said absolutely and she’d love my help whenever possible. It came to me picking up shifts (over night too) for a good month trying to get this bonus ($4 extra per hour). She also said i don’t get holiday pay(even though they scheduled me every holiday). Now it never showed on my paystubs and after confronting her she went back on her word and said she made a mistake that i won’t get it since i work a casual shift. She also said i have to work all the holidays since I’m casual. I replied back with my resignation letter. Edit: i have emails and scheduling app where she says I’ll be getting the bonus.…

The place is called Fendler's, it's in Saint Louis. I called up to inquire about the hiring now sign outside the business and to ask them what they start out at as far as pay goes. He told me they start out at around 11 dollars an hour, so I laughed at him, said “fuck you bro”, and hung that shit up. This is backbreaking labor they're talking about paying you shit for. Fuck this entitled ass country. Fuck employers. Fuck work.
