I'm a security guard and I've been working at my job for almost 4 years now. I want a career change and I want to work from home. I just want to be at my computer most of the day gaming, or surfing the web all day. I have been looking online and most of these jobs require years of experience or a degree. My only relevant experience would be my computer repair shop job I had for a year. I also did go to a community college for 3 to 5 years but that was to get a history degree or general studies. I dropped out after a few failed classes. I see how much other Redditors brag about how little work they do when working remote. They will say how they only do 3 hours of work in a 8 hour day and still get paid for it.…

I had a conversation with my old manager recently that shook me up quite a bit. We had a good relationship and I was asking if I could use him as a reference, throughout the conversation he was giving me advice. One part stuck out to me and it was “never go into the sewer, or you'll never get the stink out to you”. My ex-manager highly favors working ethics. He told me that when he left us, he went to another company, which he left because of personal differences. He then came back to our president offering “right to first refusal”, basically admitting he was wrong for leaving the company for the other job. Not only did our president reject him, he went around to the subcontractors who he worked with talking shit. And it shook me, because he went through all this effort not to burn bridges, to…

I was born in this country and used to be proud to be American, sorry to say that’s no longer true. The US is not a country anymore is a corporation, everything done for profit to suck the money out of our pockets. Work life balance is a joke, we work too hard and don’t receive hardly anything back for it. Not to mention healthcare, and everything else wrong with this country. I’ve been wanting to leave for a couple years and toying with the idea, but now I don’t see myself living here. I’m not sure even where to begin or where I could go as an expat. Has anyone left the US and gone to a different country? Is the grass really greener on the other side?

I Called in sick (with covid) this morning. Was asked if I'm well enough to still work from home. I said no, I'm really poorly. He then snaps at me saying that I was off sick not long ago and it's not fair on the class or the year group lead who has to take over and how he's had some complaints from parents. I told him look, I don't plan to get sick. Then he tells me to call and update him. This happens every time I call sick “Will you be in tomorrow? It's not fair on your class It's hard finding supply teachers”
