Just saw a post here regarding the how to respond to the “no one wants to work anymore” we've heard far too commonly as of recent. I don't think it's wrong for people to admit that they don't want to work. I think people are finally able to be honest with themselves about this fundamental reality for the first time, en masse (i.e. at a population level): We work to live; we don't live to work (ideally). Don't let outdated and out of touch views from the Puritanical age that's been transcended down for far too many generations fool and gaslight you. Having this view regarding work has allowed me to be as pragmatic as possible when it comes to navigating my career. I don't fall prey to the emotional and manipulative exploitations of corporate America and their incessant pestering about their great “company culture”. I can walk away from…
I've been in management for restaurants/Pubs/Bars for the better part of a decade now, during the first few years, I'd always receive calls, and messages during my days off and holiday and I got pretty tired of it, especially when it would come from my bosses. To combat this, I bought a cheap smartphone that's able to run apps like email, WhatsApp and calendar, as well as having a pay as you go SIM so it keeps the cost low. Once I get home from work, I put it on charge, and mute it. No one from work has access to my personal number, and I do not receive work related calls and messages when I am not at work. I also created a separate email address for the same purpose. Work stays during work hours. If you're able to do this, I strongly urge you try it. It will…

My boss is as asshole
So I've been off for a lengthy amount of time and the “welcome back” text I got was “you'll have “name” as your coworker tomorrow”. Thanks for making me feel like such a valued member of the “team”. She doesn't know it but she's motivates me to do well in my university courses.
Company credit card (late fees)
looking for knowledge/opinions… I work for a subsidiary to a large oil company, they’ve just issued me a credit card for business expenses… once something is purchased I have to reconcile the transaction in a bank system then goes to multiple approval steps within the company before the company will pay the card balance… as part of the terms for having the card I am responsible for any late fees incurred on the card. How common practice is this? I feel uneasy about being responsible for late fees when I am reliant on layers of approvals that I have no control of. -Reconciliation process is essentially uploading a receipt.

Am I being scammed?
I have been teaching English online for a few months now. My girlfriend helped me find my first few students, around 8 students, and we share everything 50-50. She talks to the parents and schedules the classes for me, I plan the classes and teach the students. I have been doing a good job so far and got recommended to a few other students and now two schools have contacted me. I don't really mean that i am being scammed, but if i work a year like this, I'll only get half of the money i make, which is fine if she got me the student. The students pay anywhere from 6 to 15 dollars an hour. So i make half of that. I'm too much of a pushover to tell her anything myself, but i feel like i should get more from the students that she didn't get me,…
