this cycle of not hiring entry level without enough experience needs to end

This cycle has gone on gor too long leading to high turn over rates in just about ever job in America. From experience i had to lie on several entry level positions just to get into a stick room. I have lied alot on resumes and gotten the job and held it for over a year with no experience in stocking but for some reason i was able to do an entry level job without any experience without issue. Hmm.

Layoffs shouldn’t be a surprise. Don’t be caught off guard.

I've survived rounds of layoffs multiple times at many jobs. I've seen the signs ahead of time, and can pretty much predict who gets cut. This is what you should know. (This primarily applies to a corporate/office environment). I've worked a few places where the writing was on the wall for several months before the actual layoffs, yet I saw so many coworkers taken with complete surprise and utter shock when it happened. You should know the signs, so you can update your resume and start planning your references ahead of time. If you're lucky you'll get severance, but it may not be that good, and it's not guaranteed. These are all potential signs your job may be endangered. See a few of these going on at the same time? The writing is on the wall and you're a fool not to see it. Sign 1 – The financials. If…

I finally called out my former employer

Reposting my original post I deleted. Thought I could add photos with text but I don't post much on Reddit and didn't realize I couldn't. When the pandemic started I was working for Fix Studio in Minneapolis, MN. They closed down but still had myself and another girl working without clocking in saying they'd pay us a “bonus” for the hours. Well jump forward a few months, my roommate and boyfriend are both displaying symptoms of COVID and so I call in and go get tested. Because this was before testing was readily available it took much longer to get results and you were called with results rather than emailed at the time. My employer was pissed I missed work and demanded documentation of my test (I had told them I got results over the phone) and so this time I told them the state doesn't require documentation for missing…

people not working is starting to affect much more than I think we can comprehend at the moment

First off I want to say that I completely understand people not wanting to have jobs in today's society and that, whether you want to believe it or not, it's entirely the employers fault. That being said, I think the worker shortage is starting to seriously affect us all negatively, including those refusing to work. I keep hearing things about food shortages due to supply chain issues and trucker demand etc. Whatever they're choosing to blame it on. But yesterday at the grocery store, I noticed bare shelves everywhere and was extremely frustrated as I need groceries. So on a whim, and because I saw virtually no employees anywhere, out of my frustration I ventured to the warehouse area of the store. I was absolutely astonished at how much was back there, enough groceries to stock everything that was missing from the shelves. After my anger had subsided and I…

Getting over jealousy

I’m female (23) and I have a coworker (30 & let’s call her Zoe) as well as a boss (34 & calling him Paul) I’m single, Zoe is married with a kid, and Paul is single as well. Ever since I got moved to a new job role two months ago which isolates me from others, Zoe and Paul get to talk ALL the time. I’ve talked to her about Paul not talking to me much and she told me she and him mainly talk about work and he isn’t too talkative, which isn’t necessarily untrue. My problem is, our department is severely understaffed. We need about 9-10 people to our jobs well but we’re operating with seven, which means our manager is doing triple the work that all of us are doing. I am eager to learn more to help out the team (though Zoe believes I’m trying to…
