My “no accountability” boss
I’ve been on time for my shifts consistently and it hasn’t been an issue until recently. We have a new boss that insists that on-time is 15-20 minutes early. I firmly believe that any time before my scheduled shift is my own time; if I’m scheduled to clock on at 2 PM, I’m going to clock on at 2 PM. Why not just schedule us 15-20 minutes before the hour if we’re supposed to be there at that time?
When you quit/get let go from your job because you want to continue working remotely indefinitely, one of two things will happen. The company will either Find someone who is willing to do in-office/hybrid, or Replace you with another remote worker and pay them less than they paid you – they can save a LOT of money if they turn to workers from overseas Regarding the subsequent job hunt for a new remote-only position, many such companies will be offering less competitive compensation with the reasoning that the worker is saving on transportation, gas, car accidents/wear-and-tear, etc. and that the “luxury” of working remotely adds monetary and non-monetary value to the opportunity. You also have to compete with more fellow applicants if the position is not location-bound work from home. Why can Companies just do this?
Bit of Background: We live in Arkansas, and the company is multinational. My Love had did not wear his steel toed boots to work, we get it, his fault. But there is more than just this I promise. Was sent home, told to show up next night with pair. Problem was that his had broken through the bottoms of his old ones. So he got intouch with HR Head. Explained everything including that he could have a new pair by Monday. (This happen on Wednesday) Head of HR told him come in and see if they could get the outer steel toes to fit his shoes. Nope not a chance as they were sized for med, he would need xl. But he went anyway. HR Head, said “see what you could do.” We did, and he had steel toed boots to go in. Phoned HR back, and told him. Love…
Walk away?
So I work at a car wash, I sell auto glass so all my job is to get people their windshields fixed or replaced for FREE through insurance and sell tint vinyl car wrap simple things. The only money I’ll make is commission, other than that it’s $12 an hour and I live in a city that is not very cheap but can’t afford to leave and am also married to the love of my life with a baby girl on the way. It’s my first ever sales job and it’s very hard for me to get ANYTHING. When I applied initially it said it was hourly plus commission but it’s actually only hourly unless the commission is more than that then I get just the commission. Today I was casually talking to a customer, not even selling anything to him as he was already being help for a tint…
How do you define the antiwork movement?
Humble Opinion
From the many [many] posts i have read here, i think you guys need to learn to: Say no and not make it look negociable. [No reasons, no details] Not befriend your bosses. [Be professional at work] Not answers calls or messages outside work time. [“I didn't see my phone” excuse] YOU get to set the type of relationship you want to have with your work. Feel free to add more points.
