There are some people I've met in work places that are unhappy with their situation, but are awesome people and workers, and perfectly capable of getting another job. Yet they don't. They stay and stay and stay through all manner of difficulty. Why do some people do this? Have you ever seen an amazing and talented person stay in a workplace and job that made them miserable? Why do you think they stay?

What would be perfect pay?
What would you consider to be perfect pay for a small business? The primary question is would be how much money does a company have to work with after operating costs? For this question We’re taking about a small profitable startup making 1M a year in revenue with zero debt. Assuming about 60% of that goes to ops, this scenario would provide 400k to spend on compensation with 5 employees. What do you do?
Writing on behalf of a friend. Employed for six months. Was aware from own self-evaluations that they were struggling with the job. Went to boss this week to ask for a PIP or mentorship to get the job back on track. They have met every week since the job started and the boss was enthusiastic about his work. The boss said instead of a PIP he had one week to decide whether to quit or be fired. It is not my understanding that any catastrophic mistakes were made. Friend never had a performance evaluation. None of this is in writing. What are his rights or options? We live in a right to work state.
The fact is that homelessness is on track to get much worse. I've worked in the non-profit sector for over 6 years. I've raised over a million dollars for shelters, pantries, casework, and so on. However, I'm burnt out by the subtle exploitation of the non-profit 'industry', and I realize that non-profits are actually — on the whole — part of the problem, because their operation is nestled into capital and will never truly challenge the powers that create the service populations they exist for. Socialism is what we need, but in the meantime, we need to do what we can to information share and help one another in solidarity as the working class. I've seen advice on this sub to park at Love's, Walmarts, and so on, privately owned lots where the cops can't bully the poor as easily. But there is a lot more to that. Let's get…
Why is it so wrong to want a life?
I am a full time employee at GD OTS, and it isn't enough. Full time, and my husband and I still barely make ends meet. Usually having to overdraft so we can, well live. My works HR, who quit last week, was being investigated for discrimination towards me and someone else. She was unable to have children, and literally took liberty over us to withhold pay. And ever since having my son, almost a year ago. We have not been financially stable. Only after coming back from leave did I get my raise and promotion. And this year we got a whopping $0.95 raise, which is the best they've given in 3 years. I shouldn't have to work overtime just to pay bills, or buy groceries. They will always say, I don't work hard enough. When literally what I am allowed to do, is dictated by others. Out of my…
Need help…hired & put on notice?
I work for a large financial institution that hired me and 3 others in a permanent FTE cybersecurity role to specifically work remotely about a year ago and mentor/ lead others with less experience. They are now trying to get everyone back into an office and centralized at one of two physical locations. They mentioned we would have to either 1.) relocate at our own expense to one of these locations 2.) find another job internally or be terminated at some point in the near-future (e.g. August 2022 – June 2023). Is this legal or would it be unlawful termination?
I was about to ask for a raise
But my boss's dad died last night. I like my job. It's a good part time thing while I'm in college. The last few weeks I've been doing too much while Boss has been dealing with his sick father. I told myself I'd do this 'til he got back. Then ask for a raise and put in two weeks if he refused. If I quit without notice, I'd be screwing over my coworkers in ways I'm not comfortable doing.
Time to name the companies that don’t permit basic human bodily autonomy. Which ones have been restrictive for bathroom breaks? Water? These billion dollar companies can surely afford letting an employee take a bathroom break on the clock? But if you can’t afford to let your employees do that. You’re bad at business and do not deserve to remain in business. You shouldn’t be allowed to strip someone of basic bodily autonomy because it hurts your bottom line.
