Didnt get a job because I was unprofessional.

Applied for a job, had a good conversation with recruiter. Second interview was with the hiring manager. Didnt hear back after a few days and saw the job reposted. Followed up with recruiter about any feedback from interview. Hiring manager said I was unprofessional because I wore sunglasses through the whole interview. No, I did not wear them on my face I wore them on my head and they were my prescription reading glasses. Thought this was funny.

Bitched at for being honest

Every week we get our paycheck stubs emailed to us on Wednesdays. I had noticed mine said I made $800+ over than what my check is supposed to be. I thought it was just a glitch in the email. Come today I get my pay through direct deposit & I am infact overpaid. I go tell the owner, and he starts bitching at me that I should've told him Wednesday, someone else's pay could be short. Blah, blah, blah. I told him I thought the email was wrong. He stormed away saying with an attitude he has to notify the lady who does payroll. I told my store manager & she said I should've never said anything, bcz when her brother worked with us he was overpaid once, said nothing, and no one ever noticed. I'm so glad I was honest just to get bitched at. SMFH!! At least a…

Rejected from the Job I’m Already Doing

Currently a contractor for a large biotech. Went through the gauntlet trying to help get this place FDA qualified, and they finally open up permanent positions. I apply, and my manager isnt recieving my resume – a month a later I recieve an auto reply rejection email stating while I had many of the skills needed, they're moving forward with a different candidate. Honestly I'm furious. Don't get me wrong I understand I'm just another cog but jesus christ. Ntm this wasnt even the job i was initially hired for, and i got put on the shift with the manager that likes shoving their duties onto us peons. Fuck this place. DW I already started applying elsewhere when they wanted us to apply to the permanent position

Quick question…

What's up with every place I see hiring all of a sudden? I'm from California, where minimum wage is 15 USD per hour. On my way to work at my new job no kidding almost every office, restaurant (fast food), factory, etc. I saw on the way has boards posted outside saying “Now Hiring! Starting wage $17/hr!” Or $18, or $19.50 etc. Are less Americans working now? Or what's going on? Why is there suddenly a high demand for workers now?

The difference between a statement and a request

Hello everybody. I want you to imagine something for me. Imagine you're calling out of work sick. How did it make you feel? Anxious? Scared? Frustrated? One of the beautiful things about getting older is confidence and assertiveness. If you have older colleagues, you might notice they don't get the same amount of nonsense that younger colleagues get. I believe at least part of that is thay managers know the older ones are more self assured and less bullyable. The young inexperienced ones get treated poorly under the assumption that they'll take it because they don't know better. I need you all to understand something. In a professional situation, respect works both ways. If you say you can't come in and you get pressured, you're entitled to calmly say you aren't coming in and it's the end of the conversation. You're selling your services to someone. You aren't “getting into…

Terminally ill mother of a special needs kid getting fired

I posted last week, but I feel like I left a few things out. First, I have a specific lung disease that's terminal. It could kill me in 6 months, or 10 yrs. It fully depends on how quickly it progresses. I'm losing lung function little by little, but am not at a point that I could collect disability. My 10 yr old son is special needs. He's had terrible trauma that's deeply affected him. He's ADHD, he's got some learning disabilities, speech impediment, and serious behavioral issues stemming from his traumatic past, and has to take a lot of meds, including anti-psychotic meds to help with mood disorders. When I applied for my current job of nearly 2 yrs, I explained my health issues. They were happy to hire me due to having a lot of experience. They explained our breaks are two 10 minute breaks, but due to…

was i stupid to walk out of this job interview today?

to give a little bit more context, i was applying for the position of human resources director at a small company that provides in-home care for senior citizens. i have a masters degree in criminal justice, a bachelors in psychology, great references, and i have been working at the same company with great reviews since 2017. i also have over a year of experience in human resources with my current company. what put me off was a few things: no one smiled or greeted me when i walked in. both the receptionist and another employee looked at me like i was in the wrong place and when i announced my name and that i was here for the interview, the receptionist still really didn't speak to me, she just handed me a packet of papers on a clipboard to fill out. when i looked through said packet it was a…

What are your best boss response stories to quitting?

A few years ago I joined the military to use it as a stepping stone towards something greater. I was tired of working dead end jobs and the only options I really had was to continue working dead end jobs, start selling drugs with some of my homies or put myself in massive amounts of college debt. It really sucks that I had to join the military to get to a better position in life but all in all I’m glad I did and gained a lot out of it. I had told my job over a month prior to me leaving for boot camp that I was gonna be leaving and they were fine with it. Well a couple weeks before I was supposed to stop working the owners son called me because he was mad I was doing something with my recruiter and not at work (which I…

Getting fired from your job? Here are your weekly checks, take the time needed. Quitting your job to escape a toxic work environment, deal with burn out, and attempt to find a better life balance? Denied. The first step of major labor reform should be renaming “Unemployment”, a misleading moniker.
