Boss gaslighting me?
When I asked to move up to another role, my boss simply said “maybe” and said that I should be happy with what I get paid (2% raise last year, I get paid 65,000 for reference). He said when he had his first job he got paid 45,000 a year doing the same thing as me, and that I should be grateful for my salary (this was 20 years ago). Does he not know inflation? Or does he want to take advantage of the fact that I’m a new grad and wants to milk my skills and never promote me.
38 McDonalds in the st.louis area
Cw: r@p3, r@cism Throw-away account. I'm a salaried manager in the st.louis area where 18 stores where purchased by an owner who already had 20: total 38 stores now. Every store has at least 3 salaried managers; average 40 employees (some outliers); most multi-million dollar stores. When I was hired, I was hired much above people in my same position. Ive spoken to many salaried managers about this; I do my due diligence in agitation and spreading this info to them because the crack is I'm in a more preferred demographic than most of the salaried managers. But it's not only that. And I will try to be succinct and include more than just my grievances from my privileged spot as a salaried manager. Employees are fired over text message for something they've done days ago at work and still worked shifts until then. Proving they are being used as…
I had worked for this company for 2 years at this point. I wake up on the morning in question and I feel terrible My nose is running, I have body aches, a fever the works. So I attempt to call my manager and tell her I could not make it to work. No answer. Our Director was out of town on vacation so I literally had no one to call and knew if I didn't show up they would have no cook. So I drug my ass in against my better judgment. My boss who was supposed to be there at the same time as me (6 AM) was two hours late as was her normal. So by the time she showed up I am already most of the way through my daily routine. I am moving slowly because I feel like hell but still knocking stuff out as…
How can we consider ourselves free when half our waking hours are controlled by bosses and filled by wage slavery. How can we consider ourselves free when our governments never do anything we want and we can't change that?
Work taking money from cheque
Switching to part time at my work, used my vacation time while on full time. Vacation resets in June and work stated that since my collective gives 12 vacation hours per month that 6 hours will be taken from my April cheque. (Part time gets half the vacation time) Is this legal? I live in Canada if that helps.
I posting behalf of my girlfriend. She works at a makeup store in Texas, let's call it Clown Beauty Hair and Nails. Basically everyone hours is getting cut including mangers. My girlfriend works almost 35/36 hours a week, now its 20-24 hours. The store manager sent a heated email about this, the district manger said straight up, “I want my bonus.” No shame, not a care for others. Maybe even narcissistic. They had a meeting at the store yesterday, every manager, district manger and I think the regional manger. No word on what the conclusion of that meeting. Is this even legal? Can someone just do this?
Should I just quit?
Make $16.50 an hour which is a dollar over minimum wage in my state. The job seemed cool to start, and offered me full benefits but no one has talked to me about them despite me working here 4 months. The boss keeps piling more and more work on me and the training was somehow both minimal and never ending. I feel like they keep going over minutia but leaving me to deal with most of the stuff on my own. Now my boss says I gotta go help out the other office, says I can’t use the employee bathroom (because going down the hall is too far apparently) and wants me to simultaneously text her all the time but never be on my phone. Gas is $6-7 dollars in my area. And at this point it’s not even worth it to feel like I’m in a prison.
So I applied for a job locally, working for a large tech company in R&D. I received no emails or calls beforehand regarding my application and scheduling an interview, but I received an email with an interview time already set and scheduled. This kind of raised a flag to me. It was an automated scheduling system I had to confirm through with their company, and there were no other greetings or anything from an actual person. I decided to look into company through the third party job site I used. The only reviews are from current employees and are all 5/5 ratings. All the questions asked seem like they were asked by corporate, and the answers from the company are very short and vague with no real answer. This raised more flags for me. Am I looking too into this, or are these actual flags?
