Month: April 2022
So this happened about 4 years ago when I was still 16. I saw another post just now that reminded me of it. I used to work at the brick as a warehouse employee (terrible company, they will short you on paycheques everytime and fight with you over it) and about a month and a half into my employment the store owner/GM pulled each warehouse employee into his office and had us all sign an agreement stating we couldn’t have phones on company property, and couldn’t talk with our coworkers at all. This didn’t pertain to any other position, sales people were allowed to sit on the furniture all night on their phones while chatting with each other. All of the warehouse employees were obviously annoyed by this, so we followed what the agreement stated. Which was that there was to be no interaction between warehouse employees. Needed more then…
I'm a college student and this semester decided to do work study. Well it's nothing like I thought it would be. I rarely interact with people and stare at a computer screen for 5-6 hours a day. It's all online and i'm basically a zoom lobby receptionist for my college. I decided two weeks ago to email my supervisors and the director over part time students and let them know I was putting in my two weeks. None of them ever responded and I didn't reach out to confirm. My last day was last friday and this week I haven't logged on or anything and I'm returning my school lap top. I just realized I don't want to work a desk/office job and would rather interact with people. It also was really hard on my health and my grades started to drop. I know for some people this was a…
Working conditions after the plague.
Historically, when there has been less people to work the land, conditions for the working class have improved. Ending of slavery and serfdom did not start from nothing. You are at this point in history. Kick back and kick hard. Unionise the living sh*t out of yourself. The ruling class is your oppressor. All the best from metal workers Union in 🇫🇮.
So you’re wanting a wife or…
my work won’t pay me my overtime.
I work at a broadband company, the technical support department. I finish at 5 but if I'm on call with a customer, it can go over 5. We were told we are paid in 15 minute increments for overtime. I told my boss throughout the month when I worked extra. For context, this company is very new and not very well ran. They constantly underpay and most of the time, they have just not tracked anything properly. Now this month I received 100 pound less for my overtime than what I was entitled to. I told my manager 2 months ago that if they don't pay me for the 15, 30 or 45 minutes of overtime I do, then I will refuse to stay after 5 in future. He nodded and gave the usual 'of course, it's your money, you gotta make sure you get what you deserve.' Now I've…
I'm a store manager at a Bayfront shop and work on my own taking care of this shop and I love my job, I get compliments from customers and my boss all the time about how kind and good I am at my job. It's my Friday and my boss messaged super late wanting a staff meeting with me and another shop Manger Sunday which is 5 days away, and claims our customer service needs work and we've been on our phones (which for me isn't true I play music from my phone for the shop speakers/message my boss when the store is empty). My boss has only complimented us days on end about our work, and customers as well like I said so this message caught us both by surprise especially since my boss knows I suffer from severe anxiety. We're confused about the situation, and I don't know…
