Month: April 2022
Hey, so i went on this interview for waitressing and after discussing the terms, they liked me and sent me an email saying they were very interested in hiring me (their words) and because i’m only 18 and still live with my parents, i decided to take the job part time and take the afternoon shifts instead of full time and, because their restaurant will open every day for lunches this month, they decided to wait “a few weeks” for me to go there to sign the contract… But today i saw their new ad for hiring new employees and i got scared.. so.. could they actually just ghost me? I mean maybe i sound stupid but they seemed like genuine people… Should i send them an email asking about it or is it too early?
He’s been sick for over a week and in yesterday’s Zoom meeting he said he’ll be in the office tomorrow. We’re mostly work from home but there’s talk of going back to the office full time in the near future. Kill me now
I’m a truck driver and currently in between jobs because my previous employer did not have enough work to keep me at full time hours and it was to the point where I was only working 2-3 days per week. I took their drug test, did all of their paperwork and watched all their videos (which took hours) and then I put in a 2 week notice to my previous employer which was set to end on 4/4/22. However, last week I only worked on Monday and Tuesday at my previous employer and then they told me they didn’t have any work for the rest of the week. So I reached out to the new employer and asked if I could start on Thursday 3/31 instead of Monday 4/4. The lady initially said “That…

i worked somewhere for about 2-3 weeks in 2021 and realized i had not received any of my tax return info fir them about three weeks ago. so i wrote them an email, waited a few days, no response. i finally call and wasnt able to be helped until about the 5th time time i called (i was consistently told to call back at a different time and every time i did was just referred to a later time once again). the manager i spoke with said she had read my email, and was just waiting for the business’s accountant to be back in office hours (i called on a friday so i thought maybe they just had extended weekend hours). i found that weird because each place ive worked at just had that information on file, as well as why would you need to contact an accountant for forms…
I wonder about bosses at times.
So I just had a moment that just belongs in this thread. My team works a major account for one of the biggest government contractors in the country. Our pay has been frozen for the last 2 years. It is also one of those situations where there are very few people as part of the prime contract holder and the super majority resides with sub contractors. Today my subcontractor had the prime director of the project on the call. Our big question as you might guess was pay increases. Well it read like a 3 act play from a capitalist bard. Act one. Acknowledge that pay is the main reason for morale lows and attrition. Fine so far you can read exit interview answers from HR. Act Two. Blame not getting raises on the bureaucracy and red tape. Like anyone on my side has not heard that a million times…
