Howard Schultz of Starbucks. You have to listen to believe.

BREAKING: In a town hall meeting, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz just told workers that Starbucks is “being assaulted in many ways by the threat of unionization.”Schultz also referred to @SBWorkersUnited as an “outside organization trying to take our people.” pic.twitter.com/oYMP01gKP2— More Perfect Union (@MorePerfectUS) April 4, 2022

I just got fired

I was fired this weekend because I went to HR to complain about my hours. I have been working valet for a whole year and have been told my my boss that I’m the best employee he has. I made a complaint and then that day I went back to the hotel to see if he was around and asked the front desk person (girl he went on a date with back whenever) and she proceeded to ask if I was alright and I said “no I’m pissed off.” Her and I have talked before at the hotel and I remember her expressing some frustration as well so when I said I was pissed off I didn’t think anything of it. I left because my boss was no longer on property. Next day I am taken off the schedule and I call HR again and they said a front desk…

Just quit and feeling anxious

I'm posting just to see if anyone else gets the same anxiety I do right after leaving. Last week I accepted an offer for a 14% raise with better benefits but it does not start for two weeks. I have been at my current (now former) company for about a year. They had made promises that they are now backing out on such as fully wfh and paid ot. I had every intention of working through the end of the week but when I got in today I was the only person working. I decided then that their bs is not worth my time or mental stress so I fired off a resignation email and left. However now I'm wondering if I made the right choice and am just anxious for the new opportunity. How does everyone else handle the time between jobs?

employer withholding half my salary. How to respond?

I work in a Bangalore based ad agency. I joined on the 1st of March. I was put on a 3 months probation period. Due to a sudden financial situation at home, I had to seek a higher paying job urgently. Therefore I served my resignation letter and initiated my 15 days notice period on the 28th of March. Please note that I have worked for the entire month of March. Today, the 4th of April, is pay day. And my employer has credited to my account only half my salary for the month of March. When I called my employer, they said they will make the full settlement, along with the reminder salary till the 11th of April, after my notice period finishes. I find it extremely difficult to survive with half salary. This policy has never been mentioned in my contract. I was not told about this even…

Asked if I can WFH after attending a funeral, boss said no

My partner's grandmother passed away on Sunday. The cremation is held on Wednesday morning. I applied for half day morning leave and asked my boss if I can work from home (WFH) in the afternoon as the procession ends at 1pm – she said no, stating that “wfh is not for this purpose”, and that I should take a full day's leave if required. From where I'm at, it's inauspicious to not shower after a funeral. The crematorium is out of town and takes 1 hour for me to get home. She wants me to rush home, shower, change, pack my things and go to work even though I had just attended a funeral; by the time I'm done, I'll reach office earliest at 3pm, as opposed to going home, shower, and continue work from there. I deeply struggle comprehending this. Is this an issue of trust or lack of…

Salary swap

I had an idea, imagine a salary swap for a week, month, quarter or year. Your board members of a company agree to do a salary swap for an agreed amount of time with a random employee, it could be life changing for a low level employee. Not to mention it may encourage higher pay for the lower level. The board or directors agree to the terms, ie how the employee is eligible, the amount, duration, all the details. I would gladly work for a company for years to have an opportunity to make my avreage yearly salary in one month. Just an idea

Curious as to how this sub feels about dress codes.

Aka, having to dress up for work. Do you mind it? Or do you think it's unnecessary or stifling?
