I called off work or didn’t show up for 3 days and my boss told me I needed a doctors note to return. I told him that I wasn’t sick during my absence so if that’s going to be a problem I would return at a later date to get my tools and drop off my key to my tool box. He didn’t say anything about a doctors note after that. i had a good work ethic at my last job,but after being fucked over so many times at my last job I’d say I lost that good work ethic. I don’t care anymore. I’m not happy that I don’t care. I’m actually quite bitter about it. But after seeing so many other employees do the same thing and still be promoted,I thought. Why not?

Hi all, I've been feeling miserable at work for 9 years (UK based), I've always worked in offices, for small, medium and large companies, I work on projects either as a Project Manager or Planner/support depending on need. I'm 43 now, and was fine with work in my 20's and early 30's, hard worker and motivated, I get paid well, so no grumbles there, but I feel utterly miserable and hopeless, I always seem to be in jobs where I'm pushing water uphill, mainly as a result of being a safe pair of hands to get things done, but now I don't care if people don't want to do things, why should I care and get myself stressed out, but at the same time it's in my nature to care about my job, I've changed companies 3 times in those 9 years but each move I find I'm run down,…

I work for a large corporate retail company in the United States. Relatively – it isn't a bad company to work for, and the pay isn't insulting. Our store manager left earlier this year to go to a new store, and he was the best boss and 'leader' i've ever worked for. Since he left our payroll hours had a significant cut which left some part time employees with 10 hours or less a week – so obviously most moved onto jobs with better hours and pay. Most full time employees have been reduced to shorter hours/shifts. It is hard to keep up lately. My role is a tech position, and we are very busy with services. It isn't a position that is easy to fill, and I am one of two employees who can do the work I do. We haven't been able to hire anyone in the past…

Anyone can do it. Get yourself some poster board from the dollar store and a sharpie and get out there. I've been standing on the road to my local facility between shifts all week and have had multiple employees stop to thank me and talk and many others blowing their car horns in support. We have to let workers know we are here and fighting for them. Bonus points if you're wearing a safety vest so it looks like you're an employee. Make those managers paranoid. Get out there, people.

Alright…the more I've sat on it, the angrier I've gotten. Full disclosure. I sell cars for a living. I run our internet department, and we all work 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. I've been here long enough to have some seniority in the sales staff, and for the last two years I've led our entire group of 5 dealerships in both unit and revenue.
