Asked for the 8th off awhile ago to use some of my holiday time. Getting time off is difficult enough with how badly we’ve bled nurses and can’t hire any. Now I get this on my day off after a shit weekend of working.

Indeed need to punish employers with deceptive postings

Title says it all. The market is hot and job sites need to do more to moderate the openings being posted. Candidates are going to return to platforms that provide assurances of quality opportunities over sites with deceptive employers.

Two days in call center and i want to kill myself.

I started on friday. That makes two days working today. OH MY GOD. WHAT KIND OF A JOB AND TOXIC ENVIRONMENT IS THIS? The second i open my program i have to call. Without a pause. Without one second pause. Nonstop calling. 150-250 people a day with angry annoyed people. When i finally find someone willing to actually do a survey with me, the program crashed and i got scolded. All my calls are monitored by my superior, and they find the smallest shit to be mad about. The respondent says they don’t do surveys? Well i need to insist like an idiot, try to change their mind while they scream at me, push them into giving me a number for THEIR superior and then saving the number and i am supposed to call them in two weeks because “they won’t remember me and there’s a possibility they will change…

Asked for a raise two weeks ago. Felt like I was talking to an abusive partner.

I've been working at this company for three years. I enjoy it and I love the company. I even often tell my friends about the product. I'm a big advocate for this company. Last summer there was a reorg which transitioned me to the team that I previously escalated to. At the time I was told that there will not be any additional compensation “at this time.” Over the past year I've taken more responsibilities and handled escalations from my old colleagues.I even took on some responsibilities for a coworker who quit recently. Curiously, I found saw the job posting for the open position (my same title) on Glassdoor and saw that the company was offering 30k more than what I'm currently being paid. On top of that, I learned that other roles on my current team and some roles on my old team were being compensated significantly more than…

No lunch break at my job

I started a new job recently and learned that they don't provide a lunch break. HR told me that whatever time I take for lunch during the day needs to be made up at the end of the day. I've never experienced this before and was surprised to find out that New Jersey law states that employees are not entitled to a lunch break. We all work from 9 to 5, not taking a break because we don't want to stay late. Everyone eats at their desk so nobody socializes. I realize that this isn't nearly as toxic as other work environments explained on this sub, but I felt the need to vent and this seems like the best place. Maybe I'm just spoiled because my last employer gave us an hour break during our 9 to 5 schedule, which really helped me recharge. I should probably count my blessings…

Imagine spending over $4m/yr on anti-union consultants

I think I'm going to start a antiunion consulting firm. Pay me $4m to tell you to pay your employees a decent wage.

Unionize Dunkin’ Donuts

I live in a town with SIX freaking Dunkin' Donuts!!! I do not work for them nor have I in the past, but knowing many people who have worked there, I know employees are treated like garbage. With the Starbucks unionization efforts in full swing, I think it's time for Dunkin' employees to begin the same process. Not only would it be great for the dozens of workers in my town, but it would also be fun to watch and help in any way I can! Anyone here a Dunkin' Employee? If so, have you had these conversations with coworkers? Can't wait to read the responses.

Never take a counter offer!!!

I work as a recruiter and one of the worst things someone can do while leaving a position for a new job is to accept a counter offer. I see a lot of posts here about how someone will threaten to quit or will put there 2 weeks notice in because their bosses are dick heads, And then we'll be offered a raise or something for them to stay at their current position. I'm telling you now, it's a terrible idea to take a counter offer. 80% of people who accept counter offers are back in the job market within 6-12 months of accepting that counter offer. Employers will sometimes only offer a counter offer to keep you until they can find a replacement, and sometimes they will treat you poorly because they feel like they can't trust you to be loyal to their company. Most people who accept counter…
