We work in normal 08:00/16:30 with 30 minutes lunch. 1 dude had the evening shift (students help and he is in charge) from 13:30/21:00 with 30 minutes dinnertime aswell. But because the students who should have worked couldn't make it, he was sent home at 16:30 and had worked 3 hours. (He wasn't allowed to stay to just finish his shift because of safety reasons). Now work wants him to work the remaining hours in his own time. He said its unfair because he is not in control of the students coming or not and now he is forced to use 5 hours from overtime. Does my company have any rights to do this or is this illegal? We're from the Netherlands btw and we work in a big warehouse. I would love to know more about this! 🙂

Need advice on job offer
So I applied for and allegedly got a job I really wanted that pays $18 an hour with paid training. After they said I was hired, they turned around and said there was no open positions at this time and I would have to start at another position which I know is horrible. On top of that, I have to accept the pay for that job which is $14 an hour and the “paid” training is at $7.25 an hour. Should I wait and tough it out for “a few months” and hope for the best or just say the hell with it before I even start since it seems deception at every turn?
My boss is doing some sketchy stuff
Let me preference this and say my brother and I are looking for other jobs and are stuck with these until something better is found. I'm also on mobile. I'm not sure if I should be posting this here. This may be kinda hard to follow, I can hardly follow it and I work for the companies. Attempted super quick run down, I was hired in September of 2020 to help my cousin (I know I know, never work or do business with family) run the lawn care company he brought, (Company 1, C1). My office is in a loft above our shop floor inside a gaint storage unit. I was hired on as a secretary, but I feel it was more of an administrative role since I do everything but estimates and mow. Well I've actually helped landscpae and have helped mow when we didn't have the staff. So…
Company policy is that, because of covid, no one can work while they are sick with any symptoms. They asked me to do a covid test after telling me a few weeks ago to order at home tests. I did one when I was no longer bedridden. I was negative. Today, they're saying that I can't take any of the covid time. I don't have any sick time saved. That's about $600 of missing pay. I can't contest it, because the pay period is over. They waited over a week to tell me this. I'm done. This is by far the last straw.
As the covid laws are are now all eased in the UK we have luckily been called back into the office only one day a week since mid Jan, which i am very appreciative as a hybrid model split because others i know are required to travel in far more. However a while ago i have been told by my line manager that i should avoid taking holidays on the office allocated day, so this limits me to the option of only 4 days in the week to pick from. This ruined my holiday plan this week. The exception is that if your doing a long holiday i.e more than 3 days or if there are extenuating circumstances like an emergency then the rule does not apply here. The issue is that personally i take more single day holidays than longer stint holidays in the year and i sometimes need…
Infuriating Dystopia Examples
Just some things that are currently pissing me off about the current situation while on hold. Getting charged multiple times from multiple places for an ER visit (3 bills totaling $1800 for 4 stitches) Getting pitched a CC for health expenses while on hold to fight said bills Watching ads for an apple credit card that you can apply for while standing in line. Working an IT job that pays more than the average household income and still borrowing money for groceries Listing to all the execs brag about buying new investment properties while I will never own a home in the current market Getting passed up for promotions because I'm too essential in my current rol Who's ready for all this shit to end? I'm so fuckin tired
