Haven’t missed a beat in these two years and for no reason other than “wanting to get back to normal” we are being forced back into the office. Several people have asked about a hybrid schedule and were denied that too. We were told to bring in our computers, so now we won’t even have the option. It’s pretty laughable and a perfect example of a company being stuck in its old ways because “that’s how it’s always been.” I’ll be demanding a solid raise to compensate me for the money lost in gas money because I have a very long commute. Or they can let me keep working from home and I’ll be happy with my current rate, otherwise I’ll let them know I’m quitting. Fingers crossed

Missed 1 unscheled day so far. Got denied day off for Doctor appt
Calling your boss’s boss! (Small rant)
Ugh… Ok …. I enjoy my job. I have enough on my plate that keeps me fulfilled but little enough that it dose not mess with my home life. Well A project I was working in had a small hiccup , and I was their only contact, I could not approve what needed to be done and I could not reach my boss. So I called 2nd in charge he could not approve it either. I asked what to do , 2nd in charge “call the big boss.” I didnt want to talk to them, Im dont like doing that. They fixed the problem, yay, but I stuttered thru the whole question how to get something approved , apologized for have to get them involved like 6 times, thanked them more time then I could count. Now Im just hoping that there is no back lash for having to do…
Should I accept?
I've commented a few times but never made a real post here but this is a fairly simple question. I got hired as a contractor to work for several months at a well above minimum hourly wage for a company remotely doing phone support. I've been told they would like to keep me on full time and hire me once my contract is over. I mentioned this to one of my co-workers who I know has already been hired over full time and he told me that they will probably drop my pay by around $4k a year but they have a decent list of benefits. For the most part, I'm not interested in benefits, the health insurance is usually a scam anyway because you have a stupidly high deductible most of the time, and to me they don't balance out to the price of the wages I'd be losing.…
I’m a 26 year old warehouse worker and have been for the past 5 years, before that I was in construction and landscaping for 2 years. Here in California if you’d like to pay rent as a warehouse worker you’ll either have to work your ass off (more than 40 hours a week) or join management. Neither idea I’m a fan of. I’ve been looking into other careers, and a rabbit hole starting with radio broadcasts landed me at a government organization called “Military Sealift Command”. It’s basically the logistics side of the navy. While I’ve been going through the process of applying with them I had it in my head that this would be great. My logic being since I’m on a boat they’ll house and feed me and 100% of my post-tax paycheck and be put towards savings. Now I’d also like to not work the rest of…
At first I didn't know where to post but thought this would help provide inside for our grocery store workers and what they have to endure. I'm currently hurting financially, to the point of food insecurities. The rent eats up 70% of our monthly salary, we've had to put some bills before food (like electricity and phones to do our jobs). I am also 15 weeks pregnant and the morning sickness has caused me to also not eat much due to the fear of uncontrollable vomiting. So, TIFU. When I was presented with a big free breakfast, I gorged hard. It tasted so amazing and I couldn't believe I ate everything! I didn't feel uncomfortable afterwards but when I got home, I took a 5 hour food coma nap. I woke up and knew I needed to do grocery shopping before the sales end for the weekend (we have a…
Started a job in early 2019 with a certain blue cable company making $15/hr and all was good. Worked hard and moved up to $22.35/hr after busting my ass for these people. Missed funerals, weddings, and time with my family to get to this point. I knew our department was hiring and decided to check out the listing to see how far I’ve come only to be blow away at the new starting rate of $22. That’s AWESOME for the new hires but why the fuck am I making pennies more than a new hire who isn’t as effective in our role after 3 years of tenure and experience? I had a meeting with our manager- she told me to be GRATEFUL that I’m not making $15 and the company deciding to bump the starting pay. She explained that I have additional knowledge and experience to be able to move…
