I finally went fulltime selfemployed …
So I don’t know if this may be helpful for anyone but I wanted to share my story here with you guys maybe someone doubting finally dares to make the jump as I did. It only took me 17 years I worked in marketing for a film company for 5 years and things were great. Until said company bought the rights to a flop one too many times. And massive layoffs followed. After that I worked for two years for a multinational with a boss that didn’t have the balls to make a decision. I worked for two years on projects that weren’t going anywhere since he didn’t dare to make final decisions. As soon as another employee suggested something totally different it went in that direction. And so on. I got paid fair but got nothing from satisfaction out of it. Then I quit and started working for a…
bling bling
I started a new job 5 months ago, and so far I’ve been loving it. The pay is okay, but it has nice benefits, easy work, good co-workers, and more stability than I’ve ever seen. It’s been entirely WFH, and I’ve LOVED that. I love getting to have more flexible hours, hang with my dog, and afford to live by myself outside of the city. I also have pretty severe social anxiety and I would really rather just do my job than mingle with co-workers or participate in the company culture. They recently said in a month, we’ll be returning to the office. While I’m grateful it’s hybrid, (3 days a week), my commute from home to the office is over an hour. Between the cost of gas, time, daycare/a dog walker for my dog and the anxiety I feel working in an office of strangers, I’m filled with dread.…
I (25F) am having trouble staying dedicated to my new job. Previously I was employed for a year plus, loved the location etc, but decided to leave because I realise I was very underpaid for the role (Lead Teacher, $2000/month lol) I took on. I also wanted to progress into a new environment. Thankfully there was no bad blood there and everything ended well. Fast forward to now, 4 months later, I’ve already signed 2 different contracts the past month and less than a week later, I’ve lost motivation. I got terminated on the first contract for no-shows, didn’t care. Right now as we speak, on my current job, I was already given a warning last week if I don’t show up again, I’d be terminated. Well I just sent my boss the message that I’m not feeling well and I’m very prepared for another termination. Any idea what’s wrong…
Hi, so a bit of context, I work at a small business in the UK and my department is ridiculously understaffed so whenever anyone is off in that department, my boss loses his mind. Well I caught covid about 5 days ago, called in sick and boss wasn't happy. He explained how two other people (in a different department) called in because of covid too and he said “this is a fucking nightmare” and “I guess you have to stay off until you get a negative test because people here are sensitive about it, even though that's not the rules anymore but as soon as you are able to, you need to work from home”. Left that call feeling guilty but there's nothing I could do really – he does it every time I call in sick anyways. Apparently the rules in the UK now are that you can go…
they have a TON of locations.. like ive literally seen small towns with TWO dollar generals the CEO makes a ton of money.. yet dollar general managers and asst managers are some of the lowest paid managers in the country. even worse than walmart.
Deep Space Nine
Going down memory lane and rewatching old shows. I just love the episode in Deep Space Nine where Quarks brother started a union!!!! Capitalists are VERY Ferengi aren't they? Then the episode where Chief OBrien had experienced a severe mental trama – 20 years in virtual prison- and his boss actually made him take his mental health seriously because he cares about people AND that makes people more productive!!!!! The dream.
So they said $20.50 during interview and on orientation they said $20. Normally I give 75% effort, now they are getting 50% when I’m in a good mood.
