Capitalism in the essence. I used to work in major bottled water factory in UK. What dirty secrets you'd like to hear ?

Saying “fuck you” and walking off is nice, but when you hand in your 2 weeks then get to coast without giving a fuck is even better. I'm getting paid to ignore my work and scroll reddit. My response to my coworkers and boss has been, “what are you going to do, fire me?”. So far 2 days left and it hasn't happened.

I was told I had gotten the job, then after my two first days I got told it was trial days (I already knew I was in trial month but that's whatever) and that another girl was also gonna get two days. They'd let me know in a weeks time if I got the job or not but it's almost been a week and I've heard nothing. When it's been a full week would I be in the right to ask for pay for the 10 hours I worked?

LORD. Why did this lady tell me that I was going to be paid on commissions and I was was REQUIRED to buy a “pack” from the company that was $130 every month. I had to find people and build my own connections, have a social media standing for this job and I wasn’t even going to be paid an hourly rate and why did she tell me this at the end. she needs to work on her connects and sales. After hearing that I basically told her I wasn’t qualified to work there and I could hear her roll her eyes and she was like well bye

Everyone at this company, regardless of title or department is hamstrung by the CEO who is the ultimate decision maker. The VP of People has no power. returned from my honeymoon in oct last year, worked my tail off sunday before work to get ahead, but was feverish and sick, bedridden, and had to bail from a 2 day work trip per doctors orders. CEO calls me later that week and said all of this in the call without waiting for a reply: “i am concerned about you and want to make sure this is not a recurring problem since you have done this once before (i flew 26 times for this company in 12 months, and missed one other minor trip with food poisoning)” “i know you are extra sensitive to covid” “you need to give us more heads up next time and we would have rescheduled the trip”…

They work completely from home part time. Because they're only part time they get a bump in their salary to make up for the lack of healthcare benefits. And because they're always behind they routinely get approved for 30-40 hours a week. When my supervisor asks why no work was done they always have an excuse as to something that came up and all my supervisor ever does is send angry group texts and e-mails. They're… kind of my hero.

I read a post earlier about Walmart and wanted to share. I worked at Walmart briefly, and within a few months I was an unloading backroom supervisor. One day, we got a new GM, who came into the back room, introduced himself and immediately announced all of us would be fired over the coming months. Over the next few months, employees were terminated for trivialities. Before Christmas I worked 28 days straight, no days off. For Christmas Eve, a coworker/friend asked if I could take his shift. I agreed, since I had no family and I knew it'd help him out. That Christmas Eve we finished early, and I asked the ASM if I could go early, and explained how much I've been working. He said yes. I came in on Boxing day and was pulled into the office and immediately terminated for “job abandonment.” They'd been trying to fire…

As many different places as I've worked I was under the impression that if there isn't anyone to cover a call off then its the managers job to cover a shift or figure something out. My current boss is the complete opposite and will hound every reliable employee that shows up for their shifts on time and doesn't call off. When nobody answers her texts and hundreds of calls and off chance she has to go in she tells regular customers how everyone on the roster is going to “pay for it”. I'll give a more recent example: yesterday I was scheduled to work my normal 2-10pm shift….overnight called off and my boss called and asked how long I can stay…..I straight up told her if I have to come back in at 2 the next day the latest I can stay is till 1 or 2 am and cover…
