I used to have a great landlord.

For reference he only charged us $900 for a 2/2 in an area where $1400 was the norm. His mortgage payment with insurances was $650. So not huge profit but he also bought this as an investment to which we understand markup. We never paid late and treated the home like it was our own. We ended up buying a home in June 2020. That same landlord at the same time decided he didn't want to be a landlord as he was afraid of getting a shitting tenant as he had before us. So he sold. He paid $89k for it and sold for $110k. It was an older home so this was in line at the time. He also gave $1000 at move out due to the constant showings. I looked up recently and the new owner is listing it for $1800 per month. Plus pet fee and mandatory…

4imprint and companies like it are the devil!

These companies are where our bosses order shitty mediocre products to give us instead of a livable wage. As if we wanted a dumb fucking hat with your company logo on it. It's a slap in the face. No we don't want a flimsy umbrella! We want a raise!!!!! Please do not accept these gifts or support these companies that pander to our shithouse corporate bosses to make them feel like they did something to “show their appreciation.” JUST PAY US WHAT WE ARE WORTH! This is even worse than a pizza party because at least we can eat that. You are just making me take a trip to the garbage bin.

TIL about “shit days” (Ger.: “Scheißtage”)

The literally translated “shit days” was a term used in southern Germany and Austria, to describe 1-3 days of unpaid work per year, a peasant had to carry out as compensation for going to the toilet. This practice was common in the 18th and 19th century. Wikipedia – “Scheißtag”

My boss calls me at 8 am while I’m on vacation. The worst part? I haven’t been paid in over a month. I’m a contract worker.

I just love it here. *tear rolling down face* sos: how do I transition out of social media marketing and into a field that's different where my skills can be transferred?

My organization sent a congratulatory tweet to the Amazon union folks today. They also asked me to justify not returning to the office.

The moral of the story: a job is a job, no matter who you work for. They will screw you with your pants on no matter how progressive they try to portray themselves. The story: I work for a left-leaning political organization. We've been WFH for most of the past 2 years, but the President wants everyone back in the office. So my organization is following along. I raised the question of not returning and was sent a medical justification form asking for my disability, doctor's information, etc. I browsed Twitter for a minute while I thought about their request, and I saw their congratulatory tweet. I still can't wrap my head around how they reconcile those two things.

Only paid $200 for a 55 hour time card

I was on a leave of absence from my work for mental health for the last 4 months and have only been back for a few weeks. Today was payday and while I wasn't expecting the usual payday amount, I figured it would still be decent considering I had 55 hours on my time card. Imagine my surprise and confusion when I saw I was only given about $200. So I figure it's a mistake of some kind and call my company's payroll folks. While I was getting a paycheck while on leave, my health insurance wasn't being deducted apparently. So now they decided, without any warning or notice, that they would just take what I owed all at once at my next paycheck, leaving me with the aforementioned $200. Luckily my wife works as well so we aren't totally fucked, but I'm still pissed that I was never given…
