Feeling icky after reporting workplace abuse/inappropriate touching

Today I finally worked up the courage to speak to my supervisor’s supervisor about the the way my boss has spoken/treated me the last 10 month. Has anyone else felt guilty/like they should have just sucked it up? I’m afraid I might have ruined my bosses life, but at the same time the way she has treated me has been completely unacceptable (to the degree where around a dozen or so coworkers would come up to me asking if I was OK regularly)

Where can I go where things aren’t like this?

Basically, I want to get the hell out of America. I'm tired of low wages, crazy expensive housing, capitalism, pretty much everything. What country can I go to where I can actually get a decent paying job with livable income??

My workplace sucks because my coworkers refuse to speak up. Speak the F*ck up!

I'm just about to head to work to put in my two weeks or less and after discussing issues with my coworkers over the past few months I've realized management is not the biggest problem, but the workers are because they refuse to speak up to management about any issues (we are a 24/7 facility with mgmt only on first shift). Not because they get shot down or belittled, just because of the typical American work culture that makes people think they will get in trouble for wanting to see changes. If they would have told me, “I went to the manager and brought this issue up X times before” I would not bother, but they just complain to each other and wonder why nothing ever improves. A few things I did bring up to management got addressed fairly quickly so it isn't just management disregarding our opinions, they do…

Point Systems

Have you ever worked somewhere with a point system? I've worked in two places that have used them as a way to enforce attendance policies, etc. The worst of it though was working for a nationally recognized nonprofit (you've definitely heard of it). Points up to a 100 followed by termination. Points if you were late. Scheduled bathroom/lunch breaks. Points if you weren't back on time from said breaks. Points if you called out. Points if you needed to leave early to pick up your sick kid from school. Points they mandated you to work and you couldn't. Points if there was a blizzard and you couldn't make it in.The list goes on. It was absolutely the most punitive policy I've ever worked under and people were miserable. I managed to go a year without any points, but eventually needed to just move on. This doesn't even take into account…

Had an OfficeSpace moment yesterday.

Back story, I work in large format printing. Fast paced, family, everything is rush. No gratitude all demands. I've hit my point where I am just burnt out working second shift with mandatory on all on every other weekend. I never see my family anymore and the 25 cent shift differential isn't worth the time lost. So HR came to the office and talked with everyone. When she came to me, I jist layed it all on the table, It felt like talking to the Bob's. She took three pages of notes. I dropped the dime on the owner, his son, and the other 85% of the useless people in the facility who just make my job harder. So… I'm going in today. I feel 50/50 I'll either get fired or be asked to run production. I check indeed daily and there is an over abundance of the same job…

Got a promotion, won’t get a pay raise for 7 more months.

I started working at company X in January 2020. For the first two years you work at the company, you get a “pay assessment” every six months, where you have the possibility of getting a raise. After that, you only get a pay assessment every January. I recently got a promotion in March, where I have significantly more work and responsibility. I have to learn a lot more things than my previous position, and now I am in more of a position to deal with difficult customers (this is not a supervisory position). Sucks I’m doing way more work than my previous position and still getting paid the same. Anyways, I wanna new job lol

Why are some people okay with working in-office?

My job can be done 100% remotely, yet here I am, working in a cold, loud building whose color pallet is dingy gray and off-white since it probably hasn’t been updated since the early 2000’s. I’m hungry because I forgot my breakfast and the only food they have here comes from 2 vending machines, one of which is broken and the second only has candy bars left. Instead of grabbing something from my kitchen I have to choose between going hungry or leaving work late because the only food will take me a minimum of 30 minutes to go offsite and get. Corporate makes 0 effort to even try and make the office a comfortable place to work, and yet here I am 8 or more hours a day; cold, hungry, tired, and in dire need of pajamas. Why are people okay with this? PS before the comments come in,…

Amazon stock tanking today.

Currently down 14.8% on the day. Great to see Bezos’ net worth taking such a beating. Unfortunately he’ll still have well over $100 billion when the bloodbath ends. Still good to see though.

Thanks to this sub, I now realize how bad I was treated by Dollar Tree

When I was 20, I worked at a Dollar Tree. It was a summer job. During this time, there was a bad heatwave in my state, and my store didn’t have any working air conditioning. My manager had tried to take care of the issue, but the part to get the air conditioner working was delayed. Every other customer complained about the heat. Working there you were required to wear long pants and with an apron on top made dealing with the heat more difficult. There was one heatwave in particular that was bad, and I knew work was going to be like an oven. So I wore a pair of leggings. They were black, but had the words “adidas” going up one pant. I didn’t see anything wrong with this at first, my apron covered up majority of the lettering anyway and I was cashier, so no one would…
