Handing in my notice tomorrow

I have been offered a job that I forgot I had applied to. The interview went quickly and everything was smooth – they're offering me a much higher salary – plus yearly bonuses and pay raise, better benefits and 100% remote work. I'm going to sign the contract today. I am going to hand in my notice tomorrow at my current position but I feel this last month of working will be quite hellish. Previously they have treated people who are on their way out really badly. On top of that 3 people quit last week and the management is already in a bad mood. How do I bring it up gently without them getting angry or having a bad reaction? Do I have a call first then send a formal email? What is the best way of bringing this up?

Is it time to leave?

Let me start by saying that I actually like my job and my supervisor. She has always believed in having a work-life balance and has been understanding of time I need to take off for my kids. Here comes the anti-work part. When the pandemic hit, we worked from home for about a year and a half before everyone was supposed to be back on campus (I work at a community college). This was during the summer, but hubs and I weren’t comfortable sending our kids to daycare yet. So my boss let me work from home two days a week, and when school started in the fall, she let me work one day from home. Out of nowhere, HR contacts her and asks her why she’s letting me wfh and tells her I can’t do this anymore. Apparently administration doesn’t want people to wfh. This was a couple of…

Junior Project Manager with 2.5 years experience and even been approached for a 1st interview after 25+ applications.

I work as a junior PM for a specialist subcontractor with 2.5 years experience. I am applying to work for a larger contractor. I have applied for all assistant/junior roles in construction management for over 25 companies yet I have not heard back from a single one. I also have a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in engineering. Am I doing something wrong?

Politicians from all sides carry on endlessly about wages, hours, working conditions, exploitation, productivity, profitability. They’ll gladly talk about anything but work itself.

Among themselves they quibble over the details. Unions and management agree that we ought to sell the time of our lives in exchange for survival, although they haggle over the price. Marxists think we should be bossed by bureaucrats. Libertarians think we should be bossed by businessmen. Feminists don’t care which form bossing takes so long as the bosses are women. Clearly these ideology-mongers have serious differences over how to divvy up the spoils of power. Just as clearly, none of them have any objection to power as such and all of them want to keep us working. Liberals say we should end employment discrimination. I say we should end employment. Conservatives support right-to-work laws. Following Karl Marx’s wayward son-in-law Paul Lafargue I support the right to be lazy. Leftists favor full employment. Like the surrealists — except that I’m not kidding — I favor full unemployment. Trotskyists agitate for…

Ex monk

Hello. I am an ex monk with no qualifications. I just wanted to say reading the content of this sub has given me confidence to start my own journey of making and producing music. Working for myself. I already set up all the social media and got 5 songs all ready. There is a documentary about monks called ” among white clouds” and one line stood out for me. “Even the work is peaceful”. This is my mantra going forward. Whatever work I end up doing will be done peacefully without stress. Thank you to all the posters who opened my eyes.

This restaurant was shamed on here yesterday (for these photos of notices from the restaurant that the owners put up, as well as potentially scamming $500k in PPP loans to buy a new house). These are the google reviews from the day it was posted and then from today (500+ deleted reviews)

Staff wants me to commit tax fraud

Note: I’m a manager, not an employer. Based in The Netherlands. I manage a team of about 6 people who I feel weren’t getting paid enough. Overtime here is heavily taxed but also paid out at 125%. Last month was a busy month for us and some staff volunteered to work the weekends. I doubled their hours leading to some of the staff having up to 35 hours in overtime. In a way I’m already conning the system. Now staff have complained about the tax rate which I can’t, legally, do anything about. Besides that people who work in The Netherlands on average get 25 days off a month. The staff member who has complained about tax wants his overtime registered and paid out over time so as to avoid tax (it doesn’t work that way) and he wants 7 weeks of holiday. I’ve always been very anti-work and do…
