Month: April 2022
A bunch of us were permanently “laid off” for covid in 2020. My buddy got a new job recently but during his offer meeting, HR said “hey, you said you were head of training and development making $82k at your last job. When we called them for employment history verification, they have you listed as a general laborer for $32k. What's up with that?” My buddy was floored. He got it straightened out, but our previous employer was petty and did stupid shit like this to hurt people. For kicks, I had my new employer reach out with the same request. I was a Service manager making $72k. I was listed as general labor, $32k. Wtf?

What is the argument here? What does the employer care or have a right to care what you do in your off time as long as it is legal to put in your body? This absolutely needs to change. Edit: I was just denied a job after passing all physical tests and interviews, only to find THC in my system (which has been legal for years where I live). I haven't smoked or ate THC for 2 weeks. I had a huge edible nearly 3 weeks ago and I failed a pre screen.
