Company I work for, which is a major online e-commerce platform. Announcing that it's outsourcing jobs to Philippines. This will impact so many great people who work and helped this company grow. It's upsetting to see this company do this. Workers won't be fired, but moved onto different roles. They waited until after a company wide employee happiness survey was over to announce this change. It's going to be interesting to see how they handle this transition, but I worry people will be uprooted. I'd like to give them the opportunity to see how they handle this. Usually, outsourcing jobs isn't a good sign though.

I work for a record retrieval company in the south and I gave me notice on Friday morning. I get along with most people at my small office so I was letting people know that I would be leaving soon. I really will miss the people I worked with as they were the best part of where I currently work. I got in trouble with our tiny HR for “telling everyone” that I was leaving. The company apparently wanted to wait until they had all their crap together and had a so-called plan on moving forward. My position has one of the highest turn overs in the company (probably because is not competitive at all), so I don’t understand what the issue was. A friend of mine works for a financial investment firm that offers paternity leave. Good, right? Nope. In order to qualify for the paternity leave, you must produce a paternity test showing that the child is in fact yours, before you get access to the time. Once he yelled at HR for a while they said fine, just bring in the birth certificate so we can confirm your name is on it. He said he would after his leave ended, and he started applying elsewhere in the meantime.
