My employer asks me if I would like to stay longer on some week days and then if I would like to get overtime and work the weekend. After working all of this and expecting to be getting a nice check, my supervisor asks me to take the day off and burn the time. Is this legal even though I was told I would get paid over time and worked the extra days/time that I was scheduled to be off? I’ve read up a lot about this but not this exact situation. I live in Louisiana btw if that helps.

Texas – commission only rules
Ok so I need some help – I’m being told by my employer that since they removed our base pay and we are 100% commissioned now, that we have zero right to a work schedule and/or any time off. We are required to use PTO for any time off however that is 3hrs or greater during open business hours. To set the stage here, the hours we work are 6:30am – 7:30pm M-F 6:30am – 5:30pm Sat off Sunday. The rub is that I routinely do not get off work until 10:30pm after having been at work for 16 hours – and don’t worry breaks of any type including a lunch break are not provided. We just get told you could take a break if you had better time management… but all appointments are scheduled off site so we can’t control when we are scheduled appointments – also they will…

I am casually job hunting on the side at the moment while working full time and I know eventually I am likely going to receive a job offer contigent on job references. The thing is, I don't like particularly reaching out to the few references I have every two years to bug them, pretend how I care what they've they've up too and overall just plead for their praise so I can get my job. Additionally, I also had a couple jobs that didn't end particularly well, one of which ended with me being let go and the other just ending sort of awkwardly where I haven't kept in touch with anyone. So I'm wondering if anyone has any strategies on turning down job reference requests. This is specifically targeting corporate non executive level work if that helps. I would not prefer to lie or obfuscate if at all possible.
My Work Horror Story.
Ok so 2 years ago I started working at a Fast Food joint. When I started the place was constantly dead. So much so that during the 3.5 Months I worked there during 2020 I worked maybe 35-40 hours total. I followed a personal creed there. Be quiet, don't make any friends and just endure. Then in early 2021 we got a new boss. As a person he was a chill guy…. But as a boss he was so bad. During his first two months there if he was on shift then it didn't matter how dead it was you worked your whole shift. I personally got the “Honor” off working 2 jobs….. as in 2 jobs in 1 shift. I was a cashier in the front and the shake guy. This went on for awhile, then the restaurant blew up. We where slammed every day. We had days where…
