Long story short, I have worked in a company for the past number of years. A few months ago I approached my manager about the possibility of a promotion, I was told yes of course once a position becomes available and that there will be loads of opportunities here.. For months I never heard anything else until two weeks ago and I get a phone call from my cousin who works in the same industry but with less qualifications and less experience. He tells me my company contacted him about a senior position available and if he would be interested. This is the position I wanted and was never told was available. So now I am pissed and have have been interviewing at other companies and received 3 job offers, all for better money and a promotion. So my question is.. when I give my notice do I tell my…
Month: May 2022
Just left a job where the manager would scream and yell and was always up to shady shit, changing paperwork and would use the company safe as a personal loan safe all the time etc etc etc problems on problems no training Anyway bitch shorted my check about 10 hours it was off by about 5 hours i asked her to do a time edit to correct my timeclock mistakes, and there was nothing more said about it until 2 days later I show up at work and as I'm gathering my stuff from my car I hear her around the corner of the building use voice to text to the district manager about my time punch she was trying to say it was only 3 hours it was more like 5h – 5h 15min so I walk around the corner and correct her she does what I believed was…
There were gunmen at my job today
Thankfully, as far as I can tell no one was hurt. I don't know who or why but my coworkers were on lockdown. Currently I'm working a temp job at the county I live in. There was a lull in work so people were chilling in by their cars and some of us, me included, fucking booked it once we found out shit was getting real. The one thing, however, that really peeves me off is that if we “decided” to leave early, instead of paying us for the day they're going to pay us out of our sick leave. A lot of us, me included, are temp workers that started this week, so not many of us will have it. We would be getting full pay if we decided to remain in the area and return to work once the situation cleared. This happened at around 10:00 AM and…
I just hate all of the jobs I had. I tried to do the same thing everyone did which is get a job no matter if you like it or not just for the pay, and then try to enjoy the rest of your life anyways. But it just didn't work for me. I went on burnout real quick and quit my job. I got kicked out and struggled with homelessness for a while. But I still cannot fucking do it. I can't work a job I dont like for the rest of my life. I can't work at a factory or a warehouse or another shitty job like that again. I know what people are going to say, that I'm lazy or selfish or weak or whatever but I just dont care at this point. I feel like I lost my will to live. Therapy hasn't helped because the…
Hey all, so I work as a crematory operator for SCI. I’ve been working at this location under this manager for almost a year but I’ve been cremating for years. But on to the matter at hand, I found out yesterday from another employee that my manager told her how much I make per hour (21.50 an hour) and then proceeded to complain that I am severely overpaid and that I don’t do anything and anyone could do my job. But what really makes me angry is the fact she’s admitted to me that she has no idea what my job entails and what I do. The machine I operate is extremely old and I have to preform a lot of maintenance on it just to keep it running so I’m constantly climbing on top of the machine adjusting wires that have come loose or replacing sparkplugs or adjusting the…
IT is my saving grace
1 year ago I decided to join the IT career field. I have worked my ass off learning as much as I can. I started at a MSP (Managed Service Provider), basically the hell of IT. I stuck thru it and stuck my fingers in as many pies as I could while I was there. At the MSP I was getting 36k working non stop, but I didn’t mind as I knew the knowledge I was getting was worth more. I was poached by a recruiter and now I work MAYBE 15 hours a week making 54k at home. I play VR, walk my dogs, literally anything else and no one is micro managing me. Is this real life? Is this what it’s all about? The higher I go the less work I do? And you know what, I STILL feel underpaid, no lie. Maybe I’ll make it to $35…
About 2 weeks ago, I was given a 15 cent raise after working at (DARDEN RESTAURANT) for a year. For context, Darden is giving out a brand new Porsche to a few of the chain restaurants. The way this contest works is that who ever gets the most to-go orders by this Sunday (I believe this started on Wednesday) will give the general manager a Porsche. Since the contest began, my gm has been out right yelling at kitchen, yelling at servers to convince customers to order to-go items, has been harassing the to-go team. He's been throwing things and exhibiting kind of violent behavior. If we dont make a to-go order in a certain time frame, the GM will come back to kitchen and say things like “if you all want another raise you better move quicker!” He has even told us to cut back times on…
