Unofficial policy
Every week at [hugeCorp] we get emails telling us how great returning to work “on site” is going. At least half the people in my location are like “nah we’re never coming back.” Everyone working “in my office” is set up with the capability to work from home so we have an unofficial policy of “work wherever you like.” HR is just happily looking the other way. They can’t exactly discipline 400 people in this hiring market.
Writing on the wall.
With the US Fed comment about companies should freeze hiring and layoffs due to a market downturn seems to be fishy. The market is going down because the FED is selling all the stocks and bonds they pumped money into. All I can say is HOLD the line we need better wages.
They are repeating their party line – “workers, get back to the office or else!” for the most part, directly contradicting the reality the article is actually trying to portray: https://financialpost.com/fp-work/employees-are-not-showing-up-return-to-office-plans-unravel-as-workers-revolt-in-tight-job-market
I know I’m not the first to ask this question and won’t be the last, but this pisses me off to no end. I don’t want to waste weeks of my time in order to apply, go through numerous phone calls, and finally get an interview 2 months later only to find out the wage is less than $15/hr. There is absolutely no reason for them to withhold this information other than them being sneaky and greedy whilst trying to sucker some poor uninformed person into working for much less than they are worth.
Y’all are the reason I got my bonus!
I’ve been at my job for a year and recently we got a 6mo retention bonus. Me and one other coworker didn’t get it because we were in orientation during the cut off, even though we were self sufficient and working by ourselves at that point since our orientation ended the following day. I was not at work the day people were talking about bonuses but my friend was and had texted me if I gotten one. Then we both decided to go to our boss and advocate for ourselves and we’re getting our bonus next week!!! If it wasn’t for this sub I wouldn’t openly talk about pay as my job still says we shouldn’t talk about it, and I surely wouldn’t have the confidence to speak up. So thank you all! My friend is awesome and everytime anything pay related happens we tell each other to make sure…
Dilbert is quite antiwork
this is disturbing
Hi guys. We are allowed to work from any EU country because we work remotely. My question would be, can my employer know if I go to Thailand or some other country for a month or two to work/travel from there without telling them? I’m an Amazon content moderator and we work on company laptops, if that gives more perspective.
