Requested a few days off of work over 2 months in advance, I am required to ask if someone would cover those shifts and if no one can/will the time off still may be approved but could be denied as well. They do not offer any benefits or paid time off, which I find is unfair to deny my unpaid time off especially since I do not get PTO/benefits, and am requesting this far in advance. If denied, is looking for a different job/employer extreme?
Month: May 2022
I work for a municipality and most municipalities are nepotistic and mostly hire internally. I can’t find a job anywhere else but I want to leave so bad. There are so many things wrong with this workplace. Senior staff never wants to do any work so they take the credit of the work you did and slander you and make you look like you’re not pulling your weight, when really its the opposite. You can’t say anything or stand up for yourself because they have seniority and are unionized and I am a part timer so if you stand up for yourself you just make yourself a bigger target. There is so much ableism in this workplace too. I was trying to train an autistic employee who had learning difficulties and nobody bothered to teach him because “he was too difficult”. So I try to teach him and I get…

Safeway’s “benefits”
Thank you in advance for your help. TLDR: Approved to be permanent remote, company cut pay by nearly 10k “based on geographical location.” Responsibilities will remain the same. Already underpaid considering workload. I have to keep this vague, but hopefully it will be enough information: Employee for a couple years in an expensive area of the US – started in the pandemic as a remote employee, no one is back in the office FT Large company with over 20k employees and (of course) a multi-millionaire at the top Hired for one job, added 2 other (higher paying) jobs without an increase in salary Did not receive a “raise” large enough to even nearly cover inflation Moved to an area with a cost of living not significantly less than the expensive area. Rent increased & partner's pay decreased by half (they took a public service job) Received notice that my pay…
Awkward interview yesterday
Had an interview yesterday for a support engineer role at a startup in CA. I’m on the east coast. The interview starts off and instantly guy said he has hard cut offs and most likely won’t get through everything…. Know this is a support engineer role to help developers. I am current in a role like that now, I know the general scope of work, I know every company is different. Majority of the questions asked were asking network engineering type questions. Network layers, IPs, etc.. I told the interviewer I’m not a network engineer nor worked in that space so I can try and explain the best I can. I get an email from the recruiter 30 minutes later and says that i did great but they are looking for someone with a different background…..yea you’re looking for someone with both a background in support engineer and network engineering.…
How Many Job Interviews MORE?
I'm happy I might get a job (finally) but I'M SO FUCKING EXHAUSTED OF JOB INTERVIEWS. I've been getting interviewed by this company four times. It's like I'm in a video game: 1) HR; 2) Team Leader; 3) Skill Exercise; 4) Manager and next week 5) CEO. Just hire me or let me die already.
Is it reasonable/common in the USA for an employer to ask for tax return, proof of joint property, or proof of joint address to try to invalidate your marriage for HR benefits? HR policies state only proof of marriage is required, but they say they have the right to ask for any information they want to prove the marriage is legitimate in their eyes. They say not passing this audit leads to revoking insurance, and may lead to having to repay premiums or even charges for insurance fraud.
