I started working for minimum wage for this company a few days after they were purchased and almost all the previous staff had quit. It was myself and a few other people all through the holidays at this typically busy franchise, extreme verbal abuse from customers and the co-owner but lots of overtime. Over a few months more people got hired and the burden lessened but I was still being expected to come in on every scheduled day off, and to also work at another location in another county. I eventually exercised my right to decline doing those things and they did what they said they do to people, which was not fire me but take me off the schedule, specifically keeping me from getting unemployment. They told me I was too slow and had customer complaints, while keeping much slower employees on the schedule and not keeping in mind…

I'm a store manager and currently out of Medical Leave after having covid related complications. Another manager messaged me today asking when I'll be back to work. I know I'm not supposed to be contacted by work until I'm back, but I'm sort of friends with the guy, hung out outside of work a few times type of deal. Is he allowed to be asking me that and do you think he's asking in good faith as a friend, or as basically the Assistant to the Regional Manager?

I received an incredible email from my employer today. Not only are they covering the cost of reproductive services such as abortion, but they are covering transportation, meals, accommodation, child care assistance, and may provide additional PTO separate from what we already accrue. This is for associates and their immediate family members. This last week has been so emotional for me as a woman of reproductive age. I actually had tears in my eyes while reading it. I’m so happy to be employed with them.

Employee went to get his hair cut during his shift. When he came back Manager: Where were you for an hour ?? Emp: Getting my hair cut. M: Thats your personal chore and should be done on your own time. E: My hair grew on the comapny time so I had them cut during Comapny time. M: Not all your hair grew during comapny time, what about when you were at your home or on weekends ?? E: THATS WHY I HAVE ONLY TRIMMED MY HAIR SHORT AND NOT SHAVED MY HEAD.

Hoping that people who faced similar situation can advise me on this. Last week I was suddenly laid-off from my company. It was devastating bc I was blindsided and really enjoyed my job. I worked as a business analyst and in the weeks prior, had setup an important meeting with a distributor. The talk was setup this week and my former director (who was devastated to lose me) and CEO went ahead with the meeting and it was very fruitful. Hello everyone! I have a tale of 2 jobs. I currently work part time at two different theatre companies doing front of house things. We shall call them Job 1 and Job 2. Job 1 is a non profit and I get $14 an hour. Job 2 is a for-profit, however they are just starting up again “post covid”. Job 2 pays me $20-23 an hour depending on what role I am doing that night (bartender, front of house, or house manager). Bartenders also get tips. I have worked Job 1 since technically February 2020, however there was a short break when they were shut down due to Covid.
